Jotun India Private Limited in Pune seeks an experienced R&D Chemist to drive development of innovative coatings. You will execute research projects, formulate and test products, and document results while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor colleagues, and promote a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement in line with the Penguin Spirit. This role reports to the R&D Manager.
As an R&D Chemist, you will contribute to the development and improvement of innovative products by executing research and development activities and applying your technical expertise to solve challenges. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help achieve departmental goals, strengthen technical capabilities, and support business success through continuous learning and collaboration. This role is based at Pune, Maharashtra and reports to R&D Manager.
Lead and execute assigned R&D projects and product development activities, including planning, formulation, testing, evaluation, and documentation, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Coordinate project activities with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver results on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Analyze, interpret, and communicate test results and technical findings, providing recommendations that support informed business and product-related decisions. Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, contributing technical expertise to enhance product performance, project execution, and overall R&D effectiveness. Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and act as a role model for company values, fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and a positive team culture in line with the Penguin Spirit. Promote a safe, organized, and compliant work environment by following health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures and maintaining high standards of laboratory housekeeping.
Bachelor’s degree with more than 5 years of experience, or master’s degree with more than 3 years of experience in R&D. Hands-on experience in protective coatings, particularly epoxy- and polyurethane-based products. Ability to independently drive R&D activities and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
