Job summary

Amardeep Steel Centre LLP in Mumbai invites an experienced Quality Engineer/Inspector to join our office-based team. The role focuses on inspecting steel and piping products, verifying technical documentation, and coordinating testing and third-party inspections.

The ideal candidate holds an NDT Level I or II certification (Level II preferred) and has hands-on experience with visual and dimensional inspections, material traceability, and reporting. Travel to suppliers and labs may be required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Production or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant quality inspection experience.
• Valid NDT Level I or II qualification/certification with the applicable methods clearly mentioned.
• Level II qualification in VT, PT, MT or UT will be preferred.
• Practical knowledge of visual and dimensional inspection.
• Ability to read drawings, purchase specifications and technical documents.
• Familiarity with material traceability and test certificates.
• Knowledge of common ASTM, ASME, API, EN or DIN standards will be an advantage.
• Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and email.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturers, laboratories and inspection locations when required.
• Careful, systematic and unwilling to compromise on quality.

Responsibilities

• Inspect pipes, tubes, fittings, flanges, plates, sheets, bars and other industrial products.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections as per purchase orders, drawings and applicable standards.
• Verify material grades, specifications, sizes, quantities, markings and heat numbers.
• Check product traceability from raw material through final dispatch.
• Review Material Test Certificates and confirm compliance with customer requirements.
• Review purchase orders, technical specifications, inspection plans and quality requirements.
• Perform or coordinate NDT activities within the candidates certified method and permitted scope.
• Coordinate PMI, ultrasonic, radiography, dye-penetrant, magnetic-particle, hydrostatic and other required tests.
• Liaise with manufacturers, laboratories and third-party inspection agencies.
• Attend and coordinate customer or third-party inspections.
• Prepare inspection reports, checklists, test records and release notes.
• Identify non-conforming material and prepare NCR or corrective-action records.
• Follow up with suppliers to resolve quality and documentation issues.
• Verify calibration certificates for inspection and measuring instruments.
• Compile final quality dossiers and manufacturing record books.
• Ensure material is released for dispatch only after meeting quality and documentation requirements.
• Maintain complete and organised inspection records.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer / Inspector to inspect steel and piping products, verify technical documentation and coordinate testing and third-party inspections.

Level II will be preferred.

Preferred Background

Experience in steel or piping materials will be preferred but is not mandatory.
