Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer specifications throughout the manufacturing process. The candidate will be responsible for quality planning, inspection, process validation, supplier quality management, audit support, and continuous improvement initiatives in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of aerospace components.
- Ensure product conformity to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Monitor manufacturing processes and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
- Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) as per AS9102 requirements.
- Maintain traceability records and product quality documentation.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and review inspection reports, quality records, and customer documentation packages.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific standards.
- Manage calibration records for measuring and test equipment.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate non-conformities and customer complaints.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA methodologies.
- Drive quality improvement projects to reduce defects and improve process capability.
- Monitor rejection rates and implement preventive actions.
Supplier Quality Management
- Perform supplier quality assessments and audits.
- Review supplier quality documents and inspection reports.
- Coordinate corrective actions with suppliers for quality concerns.
Customer & Regulatory Interaction
- Support customer inspections and source inspections.
- Participate in quality review meetings with customers and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure adherence to aerospace industry regulations and standards.
Required Qualifications
Education
- B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Production, Metallurgical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Diploma candidates with relevant aerospace quality experience may also be considered.
Experience
- 3 to 8 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within Aerospace, Defense, Precision Manufacturing, or CNC Machining industries.
- Experience in aerospace component manufacturing is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001 standards.
- GD&T interpretation and engineering drawing reading.
- First Article Inspection (FAI).
- PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA.
- Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
- Use of precision measuring instruments:
- Vernier Calipers
- Micrometers
- Height Gauges
- Bore Gauges
- Surface Roughness Tester
- CMM (preferred)
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, machining processes, and special processes.
