Job summary

AME Construction Sdn. Bhd. seeks a QC Inspector to ensure steel structure fabrication, welding, NDT, and coating activities comply with drawings, specs, and HSE requirements. You will verify MTCs, manage NCRs, and coordinate with clients and inspectors.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanical/ welding-related degree and 1–5 years of experience in steel projects, with CSWIP 3.0 AWS CWI and ISO 9001 audits a plus. On-site role in Senai, Johor.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1–5 years in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection or erection projects.
• Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control and coating inspection.
• Good knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME, ISO 3834/5817, SSPC/NACE standards.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret fabrication documentation.
• Strong quality documentation and NCR management skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect steel fabrication, welding, erection, NDT, and coating to project specs.
• Perform material inspections, verify MTCs, and ensure traceability.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities; review reports.
• Conduct dimensional checks, site inspections, and witness weld repairs.
• Inspect surface preparation, blasting, painting, and DFT measurements.
• Prepare RFIs, inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and quality dossiers.
• Verify corrective actions and close non-conformities with stakeholders.

We are currently seeking a qualified QC Inspector to join our team.

Job Purpose

• Ensure steel structure fabrication, welding, erection, NDT, and coating activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct material inspections, verify MTCs, and maintain material traceability.
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, dimensions, welding activities, and weld quality.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT) and review reports.
• Perform dimensional checks, final inspections, and monitor weld repairs.
• Inspect surface preparation, blasting, painting, coating applications, and DFT measurements.
• Conduct site inspections of erected steel structures, bolting works, and site NDT activities.
• Prepare RFIs, inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and quality dossiers.
• Verify corrective actions and close non-conformities.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, clients, and third-party inspectors.
• Ensure calibration of inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1-5 years of experience in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection, and erection projects.
• Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control, and coating inspection.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section V & IX, ISO 3834, ISO 5817, SSPC/NACE, and related standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong skills in quality documentation, NCR management, communication, and coordination.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• CSWIP 3.0 Welding Inspector or AWS CWI.
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
• Structural Bolting Inspection, Working at Height, or other HSE-related certifications.
• Welding & fabrication inspection
