Job summary

Prodocs Solutions in Mumbai is seeking an experienced QA Inspector for incoming, in-process and final testing in electronics manufacturing. You will lead inspection and testing of chip lots, leads, solder joints and packing materials, and ensure compliance with AQL and SPC practices.

Role requires 6-7+ years in electronics manufacturing, B.E./B.Tech, and hands-on testing with MOV/surge capabilities. You will train a small QC team and maintain traceable test records from chip lot to finished lot.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech mandatory for Electronics manufacturing
• Six Sigma certification preferred
• 6-7+ years in electronics manufacturing (process house) or electronic components, in inspection and testing
• Hands-on electrical testing of components (MOV/surge tested)
• Knowledge of sampling plans (AQL), SPC charts, testing documentation

Responsibilities

• Inspect imported chip lots for dimensions, electrode and surface condition, V1mA leakage and surge tests.
• Inspect leads/terminals, solder, epoxy powder, and packing material against specs.
• Accept, reject or quarantine lots; raise non-conformance reports and share data with QA.
• Carry out patrol and stage inspections for soldering, coating, curing and marking.
• Check solder joints, lead alignment and pitch, coating thickness and marking readability.
• Stop the line or hold WIP when parameters go out of limits; escalate to Production and QA.
• Run 100% electrical testing of varistor voltage, leakage current and clamping voltage.
• Run lot-wise sample tests: surge, energy, dimensional and visual checks, solderability.
• Approve lot release; issue CoCs and test reports for customer shipments.
• Run the QC lab: surge generator, varistor testers, LCR meters, ovens; maintain calibration records.
• Control segregation and disposal of rejected material; present Pareto charts in daily quality meetings.

Job description

Incoming inspection

• Inspect every imported chip lot: dimensions, electrode and surface condition, varistor voltage, leakage and sample surge tests.
• Inspect leads/terminals, solder, epoxy powder, thermal links and packing material against specifications.
• Accept, reject or quarantine lots; raise non-conformance reports and share data with QA for supplier action.

In-process inspection:

• Carry out patrol and stage inspections for soldering, coating, curing and marking.
• Check solder joints, lead alignment and pitch, coating thickness and coverage, cure, marking legibility.
• Stop the line or hold WIP when parameters go out of limits; elevate to Production and QA.

Final inspection and testing

• Ensure 100% electrical testing of varistor voltage (V1mA), leakage current and clamping voltage on auto-testers.
• Run lot-wise sample tests: 8/20 s surge, energy, dimensional and visual checks, solderability.
• Approve lot release; issue CoCs and test reports for customer shipments.

Test lab and equipment

• Run the QC lab: surge generator, varistor testers, LCR meters, ovens and measuring instruments.
• Keep equipment calibrated and verified daily; maintain test records and traceability from chip lot to finished lot.

Non-conforming material

• Control segregation, tagging and disposal of rejected material; run material review with QA and Production.
• Analyse rejection data by defect and stage; present Pareto charts in daily quality meetings

Team and training

• Guide and train the 1-2 QC team members; certify them on inspection standards and test equipment.
• Maintain inspection standards, limit samples and visual defect catalogues.

Qualifications and skills:

• B.E./B.Tech (mandatory); Six Sigma certification preferred.
• 6-7+ years in electronics manufacturing (process house) or electronic components, in inspection and testing.
• Hands-on electrical testing of components; MOV or surge protection testing preferred.
• Knowledge of sampling plans (AQL), 7 QC tools, SPC charts and inspection documentation.
• Experience running a test lab and calibration records.
• Firm on accept/reject decisions; clear communicator in English and Hindi.
