Job summary

SMV Engineers seeks a detail-oriented QA/QC Checker for Structural Steel Drawings with 2-7 years of experience to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance of fabrication and erection drawings before release.

The role involves reviewing fabrication/erection drawings, checking dimensions, member sizes, material grades, connections, welds, bolts, plates, and BOM; coordinating with engineers and detailers to close QA/QC comments.

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of relevant experience in structural steel detailing and drawing checking.
• Familiarity with fabrication and erection drawings and project standards.
• Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings and BOM information.

Responsibilities

• Review and check structural steel fabrication and erection drawings for accuracy.
• Verify drawings against approved structural design drawings and project specs.
• Check dimensions, member sizes, material grades, connections, welds, bolts, plates, stiffeners and cleats.
• Review GA, assembly, single-part and erection drawings for consistency.
• Check BOM/MTO, quantities, member marks and material information.
• Identify drawing discrepancies, detailing errors, clashes and missing data.
• Ensure compliance with IS, AISC, AWS, Eurocode and project standards.
• Coordinate with detailers, structural engineers and project teams for clarifications.
• Review corrected drawings and close QA/QC comments.
• Maintain drawing checking records and revision control.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of fabrication and erection drawings before release for fabrication.

Role & responsibilities

• Review and check structural steel fabrication and erection drawings.
• Verify drawings against approved structural design drawings and project specifications.
• Check dimensions, member sizes, material grades, connections, welds, bolts, plates, stiffeners, and cleats.
• Review GA drawings, assembly drawings, single-part drawings, and erection drawings.
• Check BOM/MTO, quantities, member marks, and material information.
• Identify drawing discrepancies, detailing errors, clashes, and missing information.
• Ensure compliance with applicable IS, AISC, AWS, Eurocode, and project standards.
• Coordinate with detailers, structural engineers, and project teams for technical clarifications.
• Review corrected drawings and ensure all QA/QC comments are closed.
• Maintain drawing-checking records and revision control.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 2- 7 years of relevant experience in structural steel detailing/drawing checking.
• Good understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel connections, welding, and bolting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Tekla /Advanced Steel Structures preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and fabrication drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
