Job summary

PeopleStrong in Chennai district, Tamil Nadu, seeks an Engineer/Manager – Quality Control – Site (Structural Steel) with 5–20 years of experience to drive QA/QC at the job site. You will ensure fabrication and erection comply with project specs, codes and standards, performing regular inspections and coordinating with the execution team.

The role requires strong knowledge of IS/ASTM standards, QCP/ITP, and site testing protocols, with documentation maintenance and safety compliance as key

Qualifications

• ITI/ Diploma or BE/BTech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Fluent in English and Hindi; regional language a plus.
• 3–20 years in structural steel QA/QC in industrial construction.
• Experience implementing and monitoring site QC procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular on-site inspections and tests to ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Review and implement QCP, ITP, and method statements for civil activities.
• Monitor calibration of testing equipment and ensure standard compliance.
• Record, report non-conformities, and initiate corrective actions with closures.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and site engineers to ensure quality requirements.

SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

The Engineer / Manager – Quality Control – Site (Structural Steel) is responsible for executing quality assurance and control activities at the site, ensuring all fabrication and erection works comply with project specifications, codes, and standards. The role involves regular inspections, coordination with the execution team, maintaining QA/QC documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental norms.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Conduct regular inspections and tests on-site materials and construction activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Review and implement project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCP), Inspection Test Plans (ITP), and Method Statements for all civil activities.
• Monitor and verify the calibration status of testing equipment and ensure all equipment used complies with relevant standards.
• Record and report non-conformities or deviations from design and specification, initiate corrective/preventive actions, and ensure timely closure.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and site engineers to ensure quality requirements are understood and adhered to during execution.

• Site Execution Engineers: For quality alignment, inspections, and resolving technical non-conformities during execution.
• Planning & Project Control Team: For updating quality milestones, material testing statuses, and schedule integration.

• Subcontractors: For supervising compliance with site-specific testing protocols and quality standards.

SECTION V: KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

KNOWLEDGE

• Minimum Qualifications: ITI / Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university or institute.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Hindi (oral and written); knowledge of regional language is a plus.

EXPERIENCE

• Years of Experience: 3 – 20 years
• Nature of Experience: Experience in structural steel QA QC in industrial construction projects with a focus on implementing and monitoring quality control procedures and site-related testing protocols.
