Job summary

JITECH is seeking a Senior Steel Detailer, Modeler and Checker to join our structural detailing team in Bengaluru. You will create and check steel models and fabrication drawings using SDS/2 or TEKLA Structures, ensuring accuracy to contract documents and industry standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating with project teams, reviewing drawings, maintaining current code knowledge (AISC/CISC), and contributing to quality control and RFI management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience detailing structural steel using SDS/2 or TEKLA Structures.
• Working knowledge of ANSI/AISC 360-22 for structural steel buildings.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1-2020 welding code and related practices.
• Familiarity with shop and erection equipment and practices.
• Understanding of IBC related to structural steel buildings.
• Some schooling or practical experience reviewing drawings (architectural/structural/mechanical).
• Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist is an asset.
• Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Fluency in English; French and Spanish are assets.

Goal Of Position

The person in this position assists the Project Managers by ensuring drawings are completed and correct according to the project's construction drawings. The person is responsible for modeling, checking structural details to be practical, efficient and accurate, and must work with the drafters in the department to ensure that proper drafting standards are being upheld and followed. Everyone at JITECH is encouraged to promote teamwork, engagement, and collaboration with peers.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and develop structural steel models based on the contract documents using SDS/2 steel detailing software.
• Prepare fabrication (shop) drawings and erection drawings as required.
• Help to coordinate projects and/or check drawings prepared by others.
• Maintain a current working knowledge and understanding of the latest version of the AISC/CISC Steel Construction Manual as it relates to connection design, detailing practices, steel member dimensions and properties.
• Review contract documents to understand project's scope and requirements, identify all potential areas of concern and prepare Request For Information (RFI's) as required.
• Interpret and incorporate Approval Comments, Contract Changes,and other revisions into the scope of the project.
• Prepare all necessary lists, documents,or files (shop & field bolts, galvanized pieces, CNC files, etc.) to the appropriate department in support of the project.
• Facilitate and encourage collaboration across departments to ensure projects are completed successfully.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings ANSI/AISC 360-22.
• Working knowledge of Structural Welding Code - Steel AWS D1.1:2020.
• Working knowledge of AWS welding practices and procedures as well as working knowledge of shop and erection equipment and practices.
• Working knowledge of International Building Code (all related areas to Structural Steel Buildings).
• Some schooling or practical experience in reviewing/analyzing/interpreting professional drawings such as architectural, structural,or mechanical drawings.
• Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist is an asset.
• Dedicated team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
