Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on QA Lead Automation to drive quality engineering for our product. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, Selenium, and automation framework development, along with the ability to lead QA initiatives, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality product releases.
This role requires a strong technical foundation, an automation-first mindset, and end-to-end ownership of product quality. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to build scalable automation solutions, improve test coverage, and ensure product reliability and stability.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced product environment, takes initiative, solves complex technical problems, and balances hands-on automation development with technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Automation & Framework Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable, and robust automation frameworks using Python and Selenium WebDriver.
- Build and maintain automated functional, regression, smoke, and end-to-end test suites for web applications.
- Apply strong programming fundamentals, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), modular design, reusable components, and exception handling.
- Develop automation scripts using Pytest and BDD frameworks such as Behave, where appropriate.
- Implement automation best practices, including Page Object Model (POM), test data management, logging, and reporting.
- Debug automation failures, troubleshoot flaky tests, and continuously improve framework stability and execution efficiency.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure automation scripts follow coding standards and best practices.
Functional, API & Integration Testing
- Define and execute test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Perform API testing using Postman, Python Requests, or equivalent tools.
- Validate REST APIs, HTTP protocols, authentication, authorization, response codes, JSON payloads, and error handling.
- Test complex business workflows, data integrity, application behavior, and system integrations.
- Perform root cause analysis of defects and collaborate with developers to prevent recurring issues.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage across UI, API, and backend layers.
CI/CD & Quality Engineering
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or equivalent tools.
- Drive continuous testing and shift-left quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Development and DevOps teams to improve release confidence and reduce regression cycles.
- Define and track quality metrics, including automation coverage, defect leakage, test execution results, and release readiness.
- Manage test environments, configurations, and test data to ensure readiness for testing cycles.
- Support release signoffs, production smoke testing, and post-deployment validations.
QA Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and guide QA engineers across manual and automation testing.
- Provide technical direction on automation architecture, test design, coding standards, and testing methodologies.
- Review test strategies, automation scripts, test cases, and defect reports.
- Plan QA activities, estimate testing efforts, and manage testing across multiple releases.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Remain hands-on with automation development, debugging, code reviews, and critical testing activities.
Product & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Managers, developers, and DevOps teams to understand requirements and identify quality risks early.
- Participate in requirement analysis, product discussions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Provide QA estimates, identify edge cases, and ensure comprehensive test coverage for new features and enhancements.
- Communicate testing progress, quality metrics, defects, and release risks to stakeholders.
- Take end-to-end ownership of product quality, from requirement analysis through production release.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve product reliability, usability, testability, and customer experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in software QA, with strong hands-on expertise in automation testing.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including OOP concepts, exception handling, debugging, and writing clean, maintainable code.
