Qualifications

2–5 years of QA / software testing experience.
Strong automation testing experience.
Experience with Playwright, Cypress or Selenium.
Familiarity with API testing and Postman.
Knowledge of CI/CD processes and Git workflows.
Experience testing AI/LLM-powered applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

QA Automation Engineer – AI & Modern Web Applications

Location: Mysore (Mysuru), Karnataka

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on QA Automation Engineer to join our client’s technology team in Mysore.

This is not a traditional manual testing role. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of product quality by combining automation, exploratory testing, API testing, CI/CD and AI-assisted QA workflows.

You will work closely with developers, UI/UX designers and product teams to ensure web and mobile applications are reliable, secure and ready for production.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable using modern automation frameworks and AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar tools to accelerate test creation, identify edge cases, analyse failures and improve overall QA efficiency.

What You’ll Do

Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for web and mobile applications.
Build end-to-end, integration, regression, smoke and API automation tests.
Create reusable and scalable automation frameworks.
Automate critical customer journeys and business workflows.
Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory and cross-browser testing.
Test responsive applications across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
Validate APIs, databases and frontend/backend integrations.
Identify defects, document them clearly and work directly with developers through resolution.
Analyse failed automated tests and distinguish application defects from flaky automation.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Maintain reliable automated regression suites that can run as part of deployments.
Participate in sprint planning, requirement reviews and technical discussions.
Define acceptance criteria and test scenarios before development is completed.
Monitor production quality and continuously improve QA processes.

Automation Responsibilities

You should have strong hands-on experience with at least one modern automation framework such as:

Playwright – highly preferred
Cypress
Selenium WebDriver
Appium for mobile automation

You should be comfortable with:

JavaScript / TypeScript or Python
Page Object Model or similar scalable automation patterns
Cross-browser automation
Parallel test execution
Test data management
Mocking and API interception
Screenshot/video evidence
Automated reporting
Git and pull-request workflows
CI/CD integration
Debugging flaky tests

API & Backend Testing

You will be expected to test beyond the user interface.

Experience should include:

REST API testing
Postman / Newman
Playwright API testing or equivalent
Authentication and authorisation testing
Request/response validation
HTTP status codes and error handling
JSON payload validation
Database/data validation
API integration testing
Basic performance and load testing

AI-Assisted QA

We expect AI to be part of the modern QA workflow.

You will use AI tools where appropriate to:

Generate initial test scenarios from requirements and user stories.
Assist with automation script creation.
Generate test data and edge cases.
Analyse logs and failed test executions.
Identify missing test coverage.
Refactor and improve automation code.
Generate negative and boundary test scenarios.
Review requirements for ambiguity or missing acceptance criteria.
Accelerate root-cause analysis.
Create documentation and test reports.

AI should accelerate your engineering judgement, not replace it. You will remain responsible for validating generated tests and ensuring they genuinely test the required behaviour.

Testing AI-Powered Products

As more products incorporate AI, you may also test features involving:

AI assistants and chat interfaces
LLM-generated responses
Voice and speech-to-text
AI summaries and recommendations
Document and image processing
Natural-language workflows
AI-generated structured data

You should understand that AI output is often non-deterministic and cannot always be tested using traditional exact-match assertions.

You may therefore help define testing approaches around accuracy, relevance, consistency, hallucination risk, safety, fallback behaviour and human review.
