Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Propose improvements to the purchasing system to improve vendor relationships and lower costs.
  • Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for inventory level needs.
  • Lead in managing obsolete and slow-moving stock to offset losses.
  • Manage day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure performance standards.
  • Research best materials and suppliers for value, delivery, and quality.
  • Visit suppliers and maintain good relationships.
  • Create a database of suppliers.
  • Prepare and negotiate best rate contracts for materials.
  • Check material quality.
  • Forecast material requirements to meet business needs.
  • Monitor stock levels to maximize efficiency.
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments and customers.
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on activities.
  • Develop an organization's purchasing strategy.
  • Produce reports and statistics using computer software.
  • Attend meetings and trade conferences.
  • Update MIS and generate monthly progress reports.
  • Perform duties as per business requirements.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business.
  • Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year.
  • Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses.
  • Manage the companys day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing agents are meeting their personal performance standards.
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best materials and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Visit existing suppliers and build and maintain good relationships with them.
  • Create a database of all the suppliers.
  • Prepare and negotiate the best rate contract for material and check its progress.
  • Check the quality of material provided.
  • Forecast the material requirement to meet the business needs.
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels to maximize business efficiency.
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities.
  • Develop an organizations purchasing strategy.
  • Produce reports and statistics using computer software.
  • Attend meetings and trade conferences.
  • Update the regular MIS and generate the monthly progress reports.
  • Perform other duties as per the requirement of the organization. Advance Planning, Quantity estimating, Rate analysis, Bill checking, Cost analysis, Progress monitoring, reconciliation for material Labor Cash Flow.
  • Responsibilities may be reviewed / added as per the business requirements.
