Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and re-align organizational sourcing strategy to business objectives.
• Monitor purchase costs regularly and ensure costs are maintained as per the defined norms.
• Carry out regular price negotiations with vendors to optimize input costs.
• Regularly invite quotations from various vendors for bought out parts and raw material.
• Ensure quality of product supplied from vendors is as per defined standards through regular vendor audits in coordination with quality function.
• Monitor vendor quality product reports and take corrective action if required in coordination with quality.
• Ensure development of pipeline of vendors to hedge against failure of supply from preferred vendor.
• Manage and develop vendor relations.
• Ensure dispatch of purchase orders to accounts is carried out as per defined Service Level Agreement for timely payments to vendors.
• Coordinate with Engineering & R&D and process engineering for new component development and ensure identification of supplier for the same.
• Ensure monitoring and management of store inventory levels.
• Ensure deployment of 5S in the purchase function.
• Initiate Kaizen projects as per need to improve departmental functioning and bring in efficiencies.
• Ensure preparation of MIS reports as per requirements.
• Ensure development of subordinates in the essential skills required to perform the job.
• Ensure employee grievances are handled with sensitivity and resolved as per defined standards.
• Monitor subordinate performance and provide constructive feedback regularly to direct reporting subordinates and ensure their development.
