The Purchase Executive – Plastics & Moulding owns everything that is plastic in that business: the polymer granules that feed the machines, the moulded parts still bought from outside moulders, the polybags and film that protect the finished product — and the injection moulding machines, auxiliaries, moulds and spares themselves. The role must buy the right grade (food-contact, heat-resistant or flame-retardant as the part demands), at a price that tracks the polymer market rather than a trader’s margin, and keep the moulding shop running without a single machine standing idle for want of material or a spare part.## KEY RESPONSIBILITIES### 1. Plastic Granules & Raw Polymers* Grade selection with engineering: Buy the right polymer for each part — PP homo / co-polymer for bodies and bases, ABS / HIPS for cosmetic covers, PC for transparent parts, PBT / PA66-GF and heat-resistant grades near heating elements, food-contact grades for kettle parts and UL94 flame-retardant grades where the product standard needs them — always against the BOM and the approved datasheet, never a “similar” grade.* Producer vs. distributor buying: Develop sources across producers (Reliance, HPCL-Mittal, IOCL, GAIL, Haldia and importers) and their authorised distributors; know when a direct producer contract beats a dealer and when it does not.* Price tracking: Track producer price circulars and polymer market movements; time purchases and negotiate price-linked arrangements so Morcom never pays last month’s peak in a falling market.* Masterbatch & additives: Source colour masterbatch (shade-matched to customer references), UV / antistatic additives and fillers; control shade approvals with Quality.* Quality at receipt: Insist on a Certificate of Analysis for every lot; coordinate MFI, moisture and visual checks with IQC; reject mixed, repacked or wet material.* Regrind & scrap: Work with the moulding shop on runner / regrind ratios and the sale of plastic scrap at the right rate, with weighment controls.### 2. Moulded Parts & Outside Moulders* Vendor base: Manage outside moulders for parts not yet made in-house — capacity, machine tonnage, mould condition, and first-article approval.* Should-cost: Build a should-cost for every moulded part: part weight + runner × polymer rate + machine-hour rate × cycle time ÷ cavities + rejection + margin — and negotiate from that number, not from the vendor’s quote.* Mould ownership: Track moulds owned by Morcom lying at vendors — mould register, shot count, maintenance and return on demand.* Make-or-buy input: Provide cost data that helps management decide which parts move into the in-house moulding shop.### 3. Polybags, Film & Plastic Packaging* Specification: Buy LD / HM / PP polybags, BOPP, stretch film and bubble wrap to a written spec — size, micron, printing, vent holes and warning text — and verify weight per 1,000 bags against the micron ordered.* Compliance: Ensure polybags and plastic packaging meet the Plastic Waste Management Rules (minimum thickness, marking) and support the company’s EPR documentation.### 4. Injection Moulding Machines, Auxiliaries, Moulds & Spares* Machine specification: Prepare technical comparatives for injection moulding machines — clamping tonnage, shot weight, screw diameter and L/D, tie-bar distance, platen size, daylight, servo vs. conventional hydraulics, energy consumption, controller — so management compares like with like.* Auxiliaries: Source hopper dryers, mould temperature controllers, chillers, cooling towers, auto-loaders, granulators, robots / pickers and compressors, sized to the machines they serve.* Spares & consumables: Build and maintain a critical-spares list with Maintenance — heater bands, thermocouples, nozzle tips, check rings, screw & barrel, hydraulic seals, pumps, valves, proportional cards, servo drives, hydraulic oil — with minimum stock levels and approved OEM / after-market sources.* Moulds: Support mould purchase — steel grade, cavities, hot vs. cold runner, trial and T1 / T2 approval, warranty on shots.* Commercials & after-sales: Negotiate capex terms — advance / PDC / retention, installation, commissioning, operator training, warranty and AMC — and hold the OEM to its after-sales commitments.### 5. Ordering, Follow-up, Records & MIS* Procure-to-pay: Raise POs in the ERP against approved requisitions with full specification, GST / HSN and approved rate; follow up dispatch daily; clear GRN, QC and invoice mismatches.* Stock planning: Plan granule and spare-part stock against the production plan so that the shop neither stops nor sits on excess inventory.* MIS: Monthly plastics MIS — grade-wise consumption and rate trend, price variance, savings, vendor rating, pending PO ageing and critical-spares position.## CANDIDATE PROFILE### Must-Have* Polymer knowledge: Can explain MFI, grade selection, food-contact and flame-retardant grades, and why a cheaper “equivalent” grade is a risk.* IMM knowledge: Can read and compare injection moulding machine specifications and knows the common wear-and-tear spares.* Costing: Can calculate landed cost of granules and a should-cost for a moulded part, and polybag weight from size and micron.* Systems: ERP / Tally / Busy for PO and GRN; MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) for comparatives and MIS.* Statutory: Working knowledge of GST, HSN, e-way bill and TDS basics.* Experience: 3 – 6 years in plastics purchase, with real exposure to a moulding shop.### Preferred* Industry: Home appliances, consumer electricals, auto components or any company running 150 – 300T machines.* Imports: Exposure to importing polymers, moulds or machines (PI, LC, Incoterms, landed cost).* Qualification: CIPET diploma or polymer / mechanical engineering background.* Language & location: Fluent Hindi and good working English; able to commute daily to Harsana Kalan, Sonipat.## KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS* Material availability: Zero machine stoppages for want of granules, masterbatch or critical spares.* Price performance: Granule purchase rates versus producer price trend; documented savings on moulded parts and spares.* Quality: Zero grade mix-ups; COA available for 100% of lots; rejection rate of bought-out plastic parts.* Inventory: Granule and spares stock within agreed days-of-cover; no slow-moving grades.* Discipline: 100% POs with comparative and approved rate; pending PO ageing under control.## FIRST 90 DAYS — WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE* Day 1 – 30: Map all plastic grades, parts, polybags, vendors and rates; build the grade-to-part matrix with engineering; take over the plastics PO desk.* Day 31 – 60: Critical-spares list and minimum stock agreed with Maintenance; second source developed for the top 3 granules; should-cost done for the top 10 moulded parts.* Day 61 – 90: Plastics category running to a monthly MIS with price trend, savings and vendor rating; moulding shop spares and auxiliaries fully covered.## HOW TO APPLYInterested candidates may share their updated CV at hr@morcom.in with the subject line “Application – Purchase Executive, Plastics & Moulding”, mentioning the polymer grades bought, monthly purchase value handled and the tonnage of moulding machines they have worked with.
