Job summary

Sify is seeking a Project Planning Engineer in Navi Mumbai to develop, monitor, and control project schedules for datacenter design and build projects. You will ensure accurate planning, forecast resources, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet defined timelines.

The role requires strong Primavera P6 and MS Project skills, experience in datacenter infrastructure, and the ability to work with Design, MEP, Procurement, Contractors, and PMO to align design deliverables with execution

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.

• Experience in Datacenter projects and MEP coordination.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage project schedules for datacenter design and build projects.
• Track progress, generate reports, and maintain schedule baselines.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and contractors for resource forecasting and EV analysis.
• Lead stakeholder planning meetings and communicate schedule impacts to PMO and design teams.
• Identify schedule risks and maintain a risk register with impact quantifications.
• Assess changes and update schedules to reflect approved change requests.

Role Summary

The Project Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for datacenter design and build projects. The role ensures accurate project planning, resource forecasting, progress tracking, risk identification, and coordination with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver projects within defined timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare and manage the project schedule using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Develop WBS, activity sequencing, milestones, critical path, and project baselines.
• Update and maintain schedule progress, delays, mitigations, and recovery plans.
• Integrate design, procurement, engineering, and execution timelines into a unified master schedule.

2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

• Track weekly and monthly progress against approved baselines.
• Prepare detailed progress reports, delay notifications, look-ahead plans, and MIS dashboards.
• Support management reviews with schedule analytics, S-curves, and resource histograms.

3. Resource & Cost Planning

• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and contractors for resource forecasting.
• Support cost and schedule integration for earned value analysis.
• Identify potential cost implications related to schedule variances.

4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with the Design team, MEP teams, Procurement, Contractors, and PMO.
• Facilitate planning meetings and communicate schedule impacts to stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment between design deliverables and project execution plans.

5. Risk Management

• Identify schedule risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Maintain a risk register with quantifications of impact on timelines.

6. Change Management

• Assess design changes or site variations and evaluate impact on timelines.
• Update project schedules to reflect approved change requests.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualification

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
• Familiarity with MEP, Datacenter infrastructure, and construction sequencing.
• Knowledge of project control tools: S-curve, dashboards, KPI tracking.
