Job summary

HypTechie is seeking an Associate Principal – Program & Project Management with deep expertise in backup, disaster recovery and data protection to lead end-to-end project execution across on‑premises and cloud environments.

You will design and implement DR policies, supervise backup software and hardware, manage risk and cyber resilience, run testing drills, ensure compliance, and coordinate IT security, infrastructure and business continuity teams to deliver resilient services.

Qualifications

• 11–15 years of experience in program and project management.
• Deep knowledge of backup and DR, data protection.
• Experience with on‑prem and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Strong focus on risk, cyber resilience, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Associate Principal – Program & Project Management professional with strong expertise in backup, disaster recovery (DR), and data protection strategies. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end project execution while ensuring robust data resilience, compliance, and business continuity across on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Management

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, manage scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Oversee project execution from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR) Strategy

• Design, implement, and manage backup and DR strategies, including policies, procedures, and schedules.
• Ensure resilient data protection through technologies such as immutable backups and air-gapped systems.

Technical Oversight

• Supervise installation, configuration, and maintenance of backup/recovery software and hardware across on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Lead performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.

Risk Management & Cyber Resilience

• Conduct risk assessments to identify threats such as ransomware.
• Implement robust strategies to mitigate data loss and ensure data integrity.

Testing & Validation

• Plan and lead disaster recovery testing and data restore drills to validate system readiness.
• Monitor backup job success and ensure data retrievability and reliability.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure adherence to regulatory, security, and industry standards.
• Maintain documentation, audit logs, and compliance reports.

Team & Stakeholder Coordination

• Lead, motivate, and manage cross-functional project teams.
• Collaborate closely with IT security, infrastructure, and business continuity teams.

Monitoring & Reporting

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Project Management: Proven track record in managing complex technical projects, including budgeting, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of backup and recovery software (e.g., Commvault, Veeam), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and storage technologies.
• Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Experience designing and maintaining DR/BCP frameworks.
• Cyber Resilience & Risk Assessment: Expertise in mitigating ransomware and other data security threats.
• ITIL / ITSM Frameworks: Strong understanding of IT service management principles.
• Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
