Job summary

Tkil is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily shop floor operations in our heavy fabrication environment. You will ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality, safety, and cost standards, and you will lead a team of operators, welders, fitters, and technicians.

The role requires hands-on experience with heavy fabrication processes, production planning, and continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on Lean, 5S, and strong ERP/MRP proficiency to optimize resources

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily fabrication shop activities.
  • Execute production schedules to meet delivery timelines.
  • Monitor processes: cutting, welding, assembly, finishing.
  • Allocate manpower, machines, materials efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with drawings, WPS, and standards.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Stores.
  • Track KPIs: productivity, downtime, on-time delivery.
  • Implement 5S and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure safety and PPE compliance.
  • Train and guide operators and technicians.
  • Drive cost reduction through resource efficiency.

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor will oversee daily shop floor operations, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining quality, safety, and cost standards. The role requires strong experience in heavy fabrication processes, workforce management, production planning, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in the fabrication shop.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed to meet delivery timelines.
  • Monitor fabrication processes including cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, assembly, and finishing.
  • Allocate manpower, machines, and materials efficiently to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with fabrication drawings, WPS, quality standards, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Stores departments for smooth production flow.
  • Monitor production KPIs such as productivity, rejection, rework, downtime, and on-time delivery.
  • Implement and maintain 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures, PPE usage, and statutory regulations.
  • Train, guide, and evaluate operators, welders, fitters, and technicians.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain daily production reports, shift reports, and manpower records.
  • Support internal and customer inspections as required.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through efficient utilization of resources.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of heavy fabrication processes and welding techniques (MIG, MAG, SAW, FCAW, GTAW as applicable).
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Experience in handling fabrication of heavy steel structures, pressure vessels, process equipment, or similar products.
  • Knowledge of production planning, material flow, and shop floor management.
  • Familiarity with quality standards, inspection procedures, and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Good communication and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in heavy fabrication or heavy engineering manufacturing.
  • Experience managing teams of 30100 shop floor personnel.
  • Exposure to fabrication involving structural steel, heavy equipment, pressure vessels, boilers, or industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and safety management practices.
