Job summary

ELGI Equipments in Coimbatore seeks a shift production manager to oversee day-to-day machine shop operations across three shifts. The role focuses on meeting production targets, planning, and ensuring process compliance and quality.

You will coordinate with maintenance, manage manpower, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires a diploma or BE in mechanical engineering and willingness to work in Kenathukadavu, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Responsibilities

• Shift Production Management: Manage day-to-day machine shop operations during the assigned shift, ensuring achievement of production targets and adherence to the production schedule.
• Production Planning & Execution: Monitor machine-wise production, job loading, cycle time, and output to ensure optimal machine utilization and timely completion of planned jobs.
• Process Control: Ensure machining processes are executed as per approved process sheets, drawings, specifications, cutting parameters, and standard operating procedures.
• Quality Management: Ensure first-piece approval, in-process inspection, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to quality standards. Take corrective actions to minimize rejection and rework.
• Machine Availability: Monitor machine performance and coordinate with Maintenance for timely breakdown resolution, preventive maintenance, and reduction of machine downtime.
• Manpower Management: Deploy and supervise operators, technicians, and helpers effectively, ensuring optimum manpower utilization, skill-based allocation, and workforce discipline.
• Tooling & Material Management: Ensure availability and effective utilization of cutting tools, fixtures, raw materials, and consumables while minimizing wastage and operational losses.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Ensure compliance with EHS requirements, PPE usage, machine guarding, safe operating practices, and 5S standards across the shop floor.
• Shift Reporting & Handover: Maintain shift-wise production, rejection, downtime, and manpower reports. Ensure effective handover of pending jobs, breakdowns, quality issues, and priorities to the next shift.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cycle-time reduction, productivity improvement, OEE enhancement, and cost reduction through TPM, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving initiatives.
