Position Overview

As a Product Development Merchandiser – Active Wear, you will oversee the development life cycle of activewear products from concept to production, ensuring quality, innovation, and timely delivery. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver exceptional products that meet client expectations.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Plan and communicate development calendars and project plans for all innovation projects
• Research new technologies, materials and garment construction innovations from market & supply chain, including pattern/fit, embellishment & trims, working with cross-functional teams to implement into product creation
• Apply predictive costing to ensure target price aligns with product designs, and review & validate costing information through entire creation process
• Cross collaboration with the Design, Sourcing and Garment Tech Operations – Development, Materials, Costing, Pattern Making
• Evaluate prototypes for compliance with Article Description (AD), fit approval/size specification, approval of colour, accessories and materials from relevant cross-functional teams
• Evaluate and ensure that the Fit and the size sets for accuracy of measurements and merchantability of complete size range including logo placement and fit are conducted by the GT team
• Help ensure target price and product designs are aligned through predictive costing
• Ensure and Process fit comments following established formats our office(s) and Buyers in a timely manner to meet calendar deadlines
• Ensure that all materials and accessories prototypes are tested and adhere to prescribed quality, safety and the standards
• Review and sign off sealing sample with complete AD including all related documents prior to buy ready dates
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to provide effective transition from project brief through to development “buy-ready” commercialization

Qualifications & Skills

• 4-5 years of industry experience in Product Development specifically in Active wear.
• A degree in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience; focused training in Technical Design, Product Management, and Product Development, preferably from NIFT or equivalent
• Previous working experience in apparel manufacturing, preferably in Active wear.
• Proficient & Skilled with the technical knowledge of pattern making in both (manual & CAD) with sampling and production support.
• Strong understanding of cross-functional team accountabilities and requirements; including close working relationships with design, raw material, quality assurance, garment technology and merchandising teams
• Extensive and excellent knowledge in the production process, fit, fabrics, garment construction, manufacturing and costing
• Experience working with vendors in China, India and Southeast Asia would be an added advantage
