Job summary

Actemium Bengaluru is seeking a seasoned Head – Operations / Supply Chain Manager to oversee procurement lifecycle for industrial automation projects. You will source, negotiate, plan, and manage POs, ensuring timely material availability while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery performance.

The role requires 12–15 years in procurement and exposure to industrial automation, electrical, instrumentation, or system integration sectors.

Qualifications

  • Diploma OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain activities.
  • Experience in Industrial Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation, System Integration, Process Automation, or Engineering Solution companies.

  • End-to-End Procurement Management: handle procurement from requisitions to final delivery and establish supplier relationships.

Head – Operations / Supply Chain Manager / Managing Director (as applicable)

Job Purpose

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the complete procurement lifecycle for industrial automation projects and operational requirements. The role involves sourcing, vendor management, price negotiations, procurement planning, purchase order management, delivery follow-up, and ensuring timely availability of materials while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery performance.

The incumbent shall play a key role in supporting project execution by procuring automation, electrical, instrumentation, and related industrial products from approved suppliers and OEMs.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Procurement Management

  • Handle complete procurement activities from receipt of material requisitions to final delivery of materials.
  • Review and understand technical specifications, BOMs, drawings, and project requirements.
  • Prepare RFQs and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers.
  • Evaluate commercial and technical aspects of supplier quotations.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and commercial conditions.
  • Generate and release Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procedures.
  • Track procurement status and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, distributors, and suppliers.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers for improved sourcing opportunities.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues pertaining to quality, delivery, and commercial matters.

Project Procurement Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Projects, Sales, Stores, and Accounts teams.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with project timelines and customer commitments.
  • Monitor material availability and proactively address potential shortages.

Cost Optimization

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and procurement efficiencies.
  • Conduct market research and price benchmarking.
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives and annual procurement planning.

Inventory and Logistics Coordination

  • Work with stores and logistics teams to ensure smooth inward movement of materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock availability.
  • Avoid excess inventory and material obsolescence.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain procurement records, supplier quotations, comparative statements, purchase orders, and contracts.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Support audit requirements by maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Stay updated on developments in industrial automation, electrical, instrumentation, and control products.
  • Demonstrate strong willingness and ability to quickly learn new products, technologies, and supplier ecosystems.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

  • Proven experience in handling procurement of automation, electrical, and instrumentation products.
  • Experience in vendor development, commercial negotiations, and project procurement is essential.

Preferred Candidate Profile

A highly proactive procurement professional with 10–12 years of experience in Industrial Automation and Electrical industries, possessing strong commercial acumen, sound product knowledge of Automation and HT/LT electrical systems, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to independently manage end-to-end procurement operations while supporting organizational growth and project execution.
