Job summary

Suzlon Group is seeking a Vendor Development Executive to develop, qualify, and manage suppliers for materials and components used in Wind Turbine Generator Control Panels. You will handle supplier identification, technical evaluation, costing, and PPAP coordination to support localization and cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to establish optimal manufacturing processes for control panels.
  • Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives with supplier teams.
  • Lead/provide PPAP coordination and supplier quality activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage suppliers for components used in Wind Turbine Generator Control Panels.
  • Coordinate prototype development, sample procurement, and qualification activities.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and pilot production builds.
  • Coordinate design corrections and supplier actions arising from sample evaluations.
  • Accelerate supplier approval for new projects and turbine models.

Job Summary

The Vendor Development Executive will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and managing suppliers for materials, assemblies, and components used in the manufacturing of Wind Turbine Generator Control Panels. The role involves supplier identification, technical evaluation, vendor qualification, component costing, drawing interpretation, process planning with suppliers, sample development, PPAP coordination, and commercial negotiations.

The incumbent will work closely with Design, Production, Quality, Planning, Stores, and Procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of high-quality components required for manufacturing control panels used in Wind Turbine Generators. The role requires strong knowledge of electrical and electronic components, control panel assemblies, sheet metal fabrication, copper busbars, cable harnesses, wiring accessories, industrial automation components, and switchgear products while driving supplier development, localization, cost reduction, inventory optimization, and quality improvement initiatives.

Vendor Development for Control Panel Components
  • Develop and manage suppliers for components used in Wind Turbine Generator Control Panels including:
    • PLCs
    • HMIs
    • Relays
    • Contactors
    • MCBs/MCCBs
    • VFDs
    • Terminal Blocks
    • Industrial Ethernet Switches
    • Power Supplies & SMPS
    • Sensors
    • Control Cables
    • Cable Harnesses
    • Copper Busbars
    • Industrial Connectors
    • Cooling Fans & Filters
    • Current Transformers (CTs)
    • Potential Transformers (PTs)
    • Switchgear Components
    • Electrical Hardware
    • Panel Enclosures and Fabricated Assemblies
  • Identify and develop alternate suppliers for critical long lead-time and imported components.
  • Support localization initiatives to reduce dependence on imported electrical and electronic parts.
  • Establish strategic supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply for wind turbine projects.
Technical Evaluation & Supplier Coordination
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLD), control panel GA drawings, BOMs, and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to establish optimal manufacturing processes for:
    • Control Panel Enclosures
    • Busbar Assemblies
    • Cable Harnesses
    • Wiring Kits
    • Sheet Metal Fabricated Parts
    • Electrical Sub-Assemblies
    • Control Panel Assemblies
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities, machinery, quality systems, and process controls.
  • Participate in technical reviews related to engineering changes, product upgrades, and new model introductions.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to improve manufacturability and reduce overall component costs.
Costing & Value Engineering
  • Perform detailed costing analysis for:
    • Electrical Components

  • Drive supplier-led cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and component rationalization across control panel variants.
Sample Development & New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Coordinate prototype development, sample procurement, and qualification activities.
  • Ensure sample quantities are available for engineering validation, production trials, and reliability testing.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and pilot production builds.
  • Coordinate design corrections and supplier actions arising from sample evaluations.
  • Accelerate supplier approval for new projects and new turbine models.
PPAP & Supplier Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate PPAP activities for new suppliers and components.
  • Review supplier quality documentation including:
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • Dimensional Reports
    • Material Test Certificates
    • Capability Studies
    • FAI Reports
    • Inspection Reports
  • Ensure suppliers comply with customer specifications, internal quality requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Inventory & Planning Coordination
  • Coordinate with Planning teams to manage long lead-time electrical and electronic components.
  • Monitor availability of critical control panel materials against production schedules.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives while ensuring uninterrupted production.
  • Work with Procurement and Stores teams to reduce excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
  • Track supplier lead times and expedite critical materials to prevent line stoppages.
