Job summary

KNR constructions (KNRCL) in Hyderabad seeks an experienced Purchase Officer to strengthen its Procurement Department. The role requires hands-on SAP MM procurement experience and a focus on timely, cost-effective procurement of materials.

You will manage end-to-end sourcing, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning while coordinating with Projects, Engineering, Stores and Finance. The ideal candidate has 5–6 years of relevant experience and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

Job Description Purchase Officer

• We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Officer to join our Procurement Department. The ideal candidate should possess strong procurement, vendor management, negotiation and inventory planning skills with hands-on experience in SAP procurement modules. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely procurement of materials and services while maintaining quality, cost efficiency and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, vendor identification, quotation analysis, purchase order creation and material follow-up.
• Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and conduct techno-commercial evaluations.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and contractual conditions to achieve cost savings.
• Develop and maintain a reliable vendor database and establish long-term supplier relationships.
• Co-ordinate with internal departments such as Projects, Engineering, Stores, Finance and Operations to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness and compliance.
• Track market trends, material price fluctuations and supply chain risks to support strategic procurement decisions.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, statutory requirements and audit standards.
• Prepare procurement reports, cost analysis, savings reports, vendor evaluation reports and MIS for management review.
• Resolve supplier-related issues and expedite critical material deliveries when required.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation for audit and reference purposes.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Procurement process.
• Hands-on experience in SAP Procurement/MM Module.
• Excellent vendor development and vendor management skills.
• Strong negotiation and commercial evaluation capabilities.
• Knowledge of purchase order processing, inventory control and material planning.
• Ability to analyse quotations, contract, and commercial terms.
• Good understanding of technical specifications related to engineering and industrial materials.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and procurement reporting tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5-6 years of relevant experience in Procurement/Purchase functions.
• Experience in handling engineering, construction, manufacturing or project procurement activities.
