Job summary

You will lead technical sourcing, supplier development, price negotiations, and ensure material availability, while collaborating with R&D, Design and Finance to optimize total cost and delivery performance.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, GD&T and BOMs, traveling to supplier sites as needed, and working in a fast-paced startup environment in the medical robotics space.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Supply Chain Engineering.
• 1–5 years of experience in technical procurement or related supply chain roles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and GD&T.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Willingness to travel for supplier visits and audits.

Responsibilities

• Source custom mechanical/electronic components by drawings and BOMs.
• Manage end-to-end procurement: RFQ, negotiation, PO release, delivery.
• Develop and audit suppliers across machining, fabrication, and electronics.
• Drive cost-reduction projects with cross-functional teams.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Procurement Engineer who sits at the intersection of Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain. You will be responsible for technical sourcing, supplier development, cost negotiation, and ensuring component availability for prototypes and mass production.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Sourcing & Procurement: Source custom mechanical, electrical, and electronic components by studying engineering drawings, BOMs, and GD&T specifications. Manage end-to-end procurement (RFQ, negotiation, PO release, delivery).
• Vendor Development & Management: Identify, evaluate, onboard, and audit suppliers across CNC machining, sheet metal, fabrication, injection molding, and electronics.
• Cost Engineering & Negotiation: Analyze supplier cost structures, negotiate payment terms, lead times, and unit pricing, focusing on total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Supply Chain & Delivery Execution: Track supplier commitments, resolve component bottlenecks, and maintain timely material flow for R&D and production lines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Design, Quality, and Finance teams to drive cost-reduction projects and component quality improvements.

Candidate Profile

• 1 to 5 years of experience in technical procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor development, or manufacturing supply chains.
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings, BOMs, and GD&T.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, fabrication, assemblies).
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial understanding.
• Hands-on experience with Excel/Google Sheets and ERP/Inventory systems.
• Willingness to travel for supplier visits and capability audits as required.
