Job summary

Design Solutions Inc. (DSI) is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer – PHE to lead plumbing and public health engineering on diverse building projects.

You will design PHE systems, prepare drawings, perform hydraulic calculations, and coordinate with HVAC, Electrical, Structural and BIM teams. You will review calculations, specifications, and BOQs, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with codes and project requirements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant PHE/Plumbing design experience in MEP consultancy or engineering environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of water supply, drainage, sanitary, and stormwater systems.
• Good understanding of PHE design codes, standards, and authority requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with Revit MEP/BIM is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PHE systems for commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, and other building projects.
• Prepare and review plumbing layouts, schematics, riser diagrams, and detailed design drawings.
• Design water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, and other public health systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, equipment selection, and system analysis.
• Prepare and review design calculations, specifications, BOQs, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate PHE designs with HVAC, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and BIM teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and resolve design and interface issues.
• Conduct model reviews and clash detection and ensure timely resolution of coordination issues.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, and project specifications.
• Review project deliverables for technical accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and other project stakeholders when required.
• Ensure deliverables are completed within project schedules and quality requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in PHE/Plumbing design within an MEP consultancy or engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, and plumbing systems.
• Good understanding of PHE design codes, standards, and authority requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with Revit MEP/BIM is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculations and PHE design practices.
• Experience in multidisciplinary MEP coordination and clash detection.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on international or GCC projects.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP, Navisworks, and BIM coordination workflows.
• Experience with large-scale and complex building projects.
• Familiarity with relevant international PHE standards and authority requirements.
