Job summary

Japanese MNC in Vithalapur/Kalol relocation is seeking an experienced Production/Press Operations lead with 5+ years in aluminium extrusion press operations. You will operate and supervise press machines, plan daily production, and drive productivity while ensuring quality and safety.

The role involves coordinating with maintenance, QA, and shift teams to meet targets and reduce downtime. The ideal candidate manages die handling, process parameters, and continuous improvement initiatives such as

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in aluminium extrusion press operations or relevant press machine experience in production.
• Experience supervising operators and helpers during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise aluminium extrusion press machines.
• Plan and execute daily production as per the production schedule.
• Ensure maximum press utilization and productivity.
• Monitor billet loading, die installation, extrusion parameters, and product quality.
• Achieve daily production targets while minimizing downtime.
• Set and monitor extrusion parameters ( billet/ die temps, ram speed, puller speed, cooling).
• Ensure compliance with approved process parameters.
• Ensure profiles meet customer specs and drawings; minimize defects (surface defects, twisting, bending, die lines, dimensional variation).
• Coordinate with QA for inspection and corrective actions.
• Conduct daily machine inspections; coordinate preventive maintenance; report abnormalities.
• Reduce scrap and rework; improve OEE; support TPM; participate in root cause analysis.
• Maintain safety: PPE, LOTO, 5S; report near-misses; ensure housekeeping.
• Guide operators and helpers; allocate manpower; monitor discipline and attendance; document handovers.
• Maintain production logs: production reports, shift reports, downtime records, scrap/rejection reports, die change records.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

• Operate and supervise aluminium extrusion press machines.
• Plan and execute daily production as per the production schedule.
• Ensure maximum press utilization and productivity.
• Monitor billet loading, die installation, extrusion parameters, and product quality.
• Achieve daily production targets while minimizing downtime.

Process Control

• Set and monitor extrusion parameters such as:
• Billet temperature
• Die temperature
• Ram speed
• Container temperature
• Puller speed
• Cooling process
• Ensure compliance with approved process parameters.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure profiles meet customer specifications and approved drawings.
• Minimize extrusion defects such as:
• Surface defects
• Twisting
• Bending
• Die lines
• Dimensional variation
• Coordinate with the QA team for inspection and corrective actions.

Machine & Equipment

• Conduct daily machine inspection before production.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance with the Maintenance Department.
• Report machine abnormalities immediately.
• Ensure proper die handling and maintenance.

Productivity Improvement

• Reduce scrap and rework.
• Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Implement Kaizen initiatives.
• Support TPM activities.
• Participate in root cause analysis for production issues.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures where applicable.
• Maintain good housekeeping through 5S practices.
• Report unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.

Team Management

• Guide operators and helpers during shifts.
• Allocate manpower effectively.
• Monitor discipline, attendance, and productivity.
• Conduct shift handovers with proper documentation.
