Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Architect with 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Data Warehousing. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Power BI architecture, advanced SQL, data modelling, and enterprise BI solutions.

The role will involve owning the end-to-end architecture of Power BI solutions, working closely with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and technical leadership to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-scale Power BI architecture and solutions.
• Define Power BI architecture standards, best practices, governance, security, and deployment frameworks.
• Design scalable and high-performance semantic models, datasets, reports, and dashboards.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformation logic.
• Design efficient data models using Star Schema, Dimensional Modelling, and other modern modelling approaches.
• Implement and optimize Power BI Import, DirectQuery, Composite Models, and Direct Lake where applicable.
• Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations and optimize report and model performance.
• Lead Power BI migration, modernization, and enterprise BI implementation initiatives.
• Design solutions integrating Power BI with Azure, SQL Server, cloud data warehouses, data lakes, and other enterprise data sources.
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), workspace governance, and access controls.
• Define deployment strategies using Power BI Deployment Pipelines, Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Power BI performance, capacity utilization, refresh failures, and data quality issues.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical architecture and BI solutions.
• Mentor Power BI developers and data professionals and provide technical leadership across projects.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, solution estimations, technical proposals, and client discussions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, or related technologies.
• Strong hands-on experience in Power BI architecture and enterprise implementations.
• Excellent expertise in SQL, including complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, query optimization, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Power BI Service and Power BI Desktop
• Semantic modelling and enterprise data models
• DAX
• Power Query / M
• Import, DirectQuery, and Composite Models
• Power BI workspaces, apps, gateways, and deployment pipelines
• Power BI security including RLS and OLS
• Performance optimization and capacity management
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, dimensional modelling, and BI architecture.
• Experience integrating Power BI with SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar data platforms.
• Experience with Power BI governance, administration, monitoring, and enterprise deployment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and OneLake.
• Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Experience with Power BI Premium / Fabric Capacity and capacity planning.
• Experience implementing CI/CD and DevOps for Power BI.
• Experience in banking domain is preferred.
• Microsoft certification such as PL-300 or relevant Azure/Fabric certifications.
• Prior experience in client-facing architecture, consulting, or pre-sales roles.
