We are looking for an experienced Power BI Specialist at Manager level with 8-10 years of relevant experience, preferably from a consulting or professional services environment. The role requires a strong combination of hands-on Power BI expertise, analytics delivery, stakeholder management, business requirement understanding, governance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate should be able to independently lead complex BI engagements, translate business requirements into scalable reporting solutions, and effectively work with senior client stakeholders. Business Analysis experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Power BI solution delivery across complex client engagements, from requirement discovery and solution design through development, deployment, adoption, and support.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, KPIs, data definitions, process gaps, and decision-making requirements; convert them into clear functional and technical specifications.
• Design and build executive dashboards, operational reports, analytical models, and self-service BI solutions using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Develop robust semantic models using dimensional modelling principles, relationships, star/snowflake schemas, calculated tables, measures, and reusable data models.
• Create advanced DAX measures and optimize DAX logic for performance, accuracy, maintainability, and business usability.
• Use Power Query / M for data transformation, cleansing, shaping, combining, and preparation across multiple enterprise data sources.
• Work with SQL and relational data sources for data extraction, validation, reconciliation, transformation, and root-cause analysis.
• Own Power BI Service administration activities including workspaces, apps, deployment pipelines, gateways, scheduled refresh, access controls, Row-Level Security (RLS), and release governance.
• Ensure dashboard performance through data-model optimization, query tuning, aggregation strategies, incremental refresh, source optimization, and effective use of Power BI performance tools.
• Define and enforce BI development standards, naming conventions, documentation, QA controls, governance practices, and reusable solution patterns.
• Lead requirement workshops, client demos, design reviews, UAT coordination, issue resolution, and executive-level status discussions.
• Manage delivery plans, priorities, risks, dependencies, defects, timelines, and stakeholder expectations across multiple workstreams.
• Mentor and review the work of Power BI developers / analysts; provide technical guidance, code and dashboard reviews, and support capability development.
• Collaborate with data engineering, cloud, architecture, product, operations, finance, and business teams to ensure reliable and scalable analytics solutions.
• Identify opportunities for automation, dashboard consolidation, improved self-service analytics, and enhanced data-driven decision making for clients.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Power BI, including Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Advanced DAX, data modelling, calculated measures, time intelligence, filter context, and performance optimization.
• Strong Power Query / M skills for transformation and data preparation.
• Strong SQL knowledge, including joins, CTEs, aggregations, window functions, query troubleshooting, and data validation.
• Experience integrating Power BI with enterprise data sources such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, cloud data platforms, and data warehouses.
• Experience with Power BI gateways, refresh strategy, workspace management, apps, deployment pipelines, RLS, permissions, and governance.
• Good understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, ETL/ELT concepts, data quality, master data, and reporting architecture.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar modern data platforms is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of version control, release management, DevOps/CI-CD practices, and controlled promotion of BI assets is preferred.
• Ability to diagnose data discrepancies, performance issues, refresh failures, security/access issues, and production defects.

Business Analysis Capability - Preferred

• Ability to conduct requirement-gathering workshops and translate business problems into reporting, analytics, and data requirements.
• Experience creating BRDs/FRDs, user stories, process flows, requirement traceability, KPI definitions, acceptance criteria, and UAT scenarios.
• Strong ability to challenge unclear requirements, identify gaps, perform impact analysis, and align multiple stakeholders on a common solution.
• Comfortable working between business and technology teams as a bridge for requirements, data interpretation, solution validation, and adoption.
• Ability to understand business processes and recommend how analytics can improve operational or management decision making.

Consulting Background - Key Expectation

• Prior experience in a consulting, advisory, system integration, or professional services organization is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience working directly with external clients and senior stakeholders in a structured consulting delivery environment.
• Ability to manage ambiguity, changing priorities, multiple stakeholders, tight timelines, and parallel client deliverables.
• Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain analytics insights, technical trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience contributing to solutioning, effort estimation, project planning, client proposals, demos, governance calls, or pre-sales discussions will be advantageous.

Managerial & Leadership Skills

• Lead and mentor BI developers / analysts and provide hands-on technical direction when required.
• Perform solution reviews, dashboard reviews, data-validation checks, and quality assurance before client delivery.
• Manage stakeholder communication, delivery status, escalations, risks, dependencies, and action tracking.
• Demonstrate ownership, structured problem solving, attention to detail, and a consulting mindset.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced client environment.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data/Analytics, Business, or a related discipline.
• Microsoft Power BI / Fabric certification is preferred.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery methods is desirable.
• Candidates with a blend of BI delivery, Business Analysis, and consulting experience will be preferred.
