Otsuka Pharmaceutical in Ahmedabad, India seeks a skilled automation engineer to develop, configure, and optimize PLC programs for sterile injectable manufacturing. The role focuses on designing and implementing SCADA/DCS/HMI control systems compliant with pharma standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, train operators, manage vendors, and ensure on-time delivery within budget while maintaining rigorous validation, change control, and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and optimize PLC programs for automated equipment in sterile injectable manufacturing.
• Design and implement control systems (SCADA, DCS, HMI) ensuring pharma-grade standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve automation issues.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operators and maintenance staff.
• Manage vendor relationships for automation hardware/software procurement and integration.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with regulatory and safety standards.
• Prepare and maintain URS, FRS, DQ, and validation protocols.
• Maintain audit-ready records for system changes, upgrades, and validations.
• Lead FAT and SAT for automation systems.
• Oversee commissioning, qualification, and validation of PLC-controlled equipment.
• Implement change control and risk assessment during system modifications.
• Identify opportunities for automation upgrades to improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
• Apply Industry 4.0 concepts such as IoT, predictive maintenance, and data analytics.
• Drive digital transformation initiatives in manufacturing operations.

• Prepare and maintain documentation including URS (User Requirement Specifications), FRS (Functional Requirement Specifications), Design Qualification (DQ), and Validation protocols.
• Ensure compliance and other regulatory guidelines for automation systems.
• Maintain audit-ready records for system changes, upgrades, and validations.
• Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for automation systems.
• Oversee commissioning, qualification, and validation of PLC-controlled equipment.
• Ensure robust change control and risk assessment during system modifications.
• Identify opportunities for automation upgrades to improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
• Implement Industry 4.0 concepts such as IoT, predictive maintenance, and data analytics.
• Drive initiatives for digital transformation in manufacturing operations.
