Reporting Structure

- Project Manager / Technical Lead / Engineering Manager (depending on project structure)
The PLC Automation Engineer will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of industrial automation projects, including system design, PLC programming, SCADA development, VFD and servo integration, site commissioning, troubleshooting, and post-handover support.
The role demands strong hands-on expertise in PLC platforms such as ABB, Siemens, Delta, Mitsubishi, and Omron, along with SCADA systems including Siemens SCADA, ABB SCADA, and zenon. The engineer must have deep working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, OPC UA, MQTT, and experience in deploying protocol gateways for multi-vendor system integration.
This position requires close coordination with electrical teams, instrumentation engineers, panel manufacturing units, OEMs, and end customers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and as per quality standards.
- Design, develop, program, and test PLC-based automation systems using:
- ABB PLC
- Siemens PLC
- Delta PLC
- Mitsubishi PLC
- Omron PLC
- Develop modular, scalable, and reusable PLC logic aligned with industry best practices
- Implement structured programming methodologies such as:
- Function Blocks
- State machines
- Standardized alarm handling
- Perform logic validation through simulation, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and SAT (Site Acceptance Test)
- Develop and configure SCADA systems, including:
- Siemens SCADA
- ABB SCADA
- zenon SCADA / HMI
- Design intuitive, operator-friendly HMI screens with:
- Process graphics
- Alarm management
- Trends and historical data
- Implement:
- User access management
- Audit trails (especially for pharma & regulated industries)
- Data logging and reporting
- Integrate SCADA with PLCs using industrial communication protocols
- Configure, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) including:
- ABB VFD
- Siemens VFD
- Mitsubishi VFD
- Integrate and commission Servo drives and motion control systems, including:
- Siemens Servo
- Inovance Servo
- Perform parameterization, tuning, and optimization for:
- Speed control
- Torque control
- Positioning applications
- Coordinate with mechanical teams to ensure smooth motion performance
- Design and implement industrial communication architectures using:
- Modbus (RTU / TCP)
- Profibus
- Profinet
- OPC UA
- MQTT
- Configure and troubleshoot protocol gateways for:
- Multi-vendor PLC integration
- PLC-to-SCADA and PLC-to-MES connectivity
- Support integration with:
- Energy meters
- Analyzers
- Smart sensors
- IoT platforms
- Ensure network reliability, redundancy, and cybersecurity best practices
- Integrate PLC systems with:
- Field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
- Sensors and actuators
- Motors, MCCs, and control panels
- Coordinate with instrumentation teams for:
- Loop checking
- Calibration support
- Signal validation
- Ensure accurate I/O mapping and system functionality
- Lead and support site commissioning activities
- Diagnose and resolve:
- PLC hardware faults
- Software logic issues
- Communication failures
- SCADA display and data issues
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Provide on-site and remote support during:
- Startup
- Trial runs
- Performance optimization
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including:
- Control philosophy
- PLC & SCADA architecture
- I/O lists
- Network diagrams
- Backup files
- As-built drawings
- Ensure compliance with:
- Project specifications
- Industry standards
- Customer documentation requirements
- Support validation documentation for regulated industries (where applicable)
