Job Purpose
The Plant Human Resources Generalist supports end-to-end HR operations at the manufacturing plant, ensuring compliance with labor laws, smooth employee lifecycle management, effective workforce deployment, and positive employee relations. The role acts as a key link between plant employees and management.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage day-to-day HR operations for permanent, contract, trainees, and apprentices.
- Maintain accurate employee records, attendance, leave, and shift data.
- Coordinate onboarding, induction, confirmation, transfers, and exit formalities.
- Ensure effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and plant SOPs.
2. Recruitment & Workforce Management
- Support recruitment for plant roles including operators, technicians, supervisors, and executives.
- Coordinate with manpower agencies and contractors for contract labor deployment.
- Assist in manpower planning and workforce optimization.
3. Payroll & Benefits Coordination
- Prepare and validate payroll inputs such as attendance, overtime, incentives, and leave.
- Coordinate with payroll vendors/HO teams to ensure timely and accurate salary processing.
- Support administration of statutory and non-statutory benefits.
4. Statutory Compliance & Labor Laws
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws including Factories Act, CLRA, PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity, Minimum Wages, and state-specific laws.
- Maintain statutory registers, records, and returns.
- Support statutory inspections, audits, and liaison with authorities.
- Monitor contractor statutory compliance and documentation.
5. Employee Relations & Industrial Relations Support
- Act as first-level HR contact for plant employees.
- Handle employee grievances and ensure timely resolution.
- Support disciplinary actions and domestic enquiries.
- Assist in maintaining a harmonious industrial relations environment.
6. Training & Capability Development
- Coordinate induction, safety, skill, and behavioral training programs.
- Maintain training calendars, attendance, and records.
- Support skill development initiatives and statutory training compliance.
7. Health, Safety & Welfare
- Support EHS initiatives to promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure statutory welfare facilities such as canteen, transport, medical, and restrooms are maintained.
- Assist in accident reporting and investigation from an HR standpoint.
8. HR MIS & Reporting
- Prepare HR MIS reports on manpower, attrition, absenteeism, training, and compliance.
- Maintain accurate data for internal and external audits.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Working knowledge of Indian labor laws and plant HR processes

- Proficiency in MS Excel, HRIS, and payroll systems
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Educational Qualifications
- MBA / MSW / PGDM in Human Resources / Industrial Relations
- Certification in Labor Laws (preferred)
Experience
- 3-7 years of HR experience
- At least 2-4 years in FMCG / Manufacturing plant HR
- Exposure to contract labor management and audits is desirable
