Job summary

Randstad seeks a seasoned Plant Operations Leader to steer a multi-line manufacturing facility in Gujarat. You will drive production planning, quality, safety, and cost control to meet targets and ensure on-time deliveries.

The role requires 12–20 years in electrical/mechanical manufacturing, with experience leading large teams, implementing lean, TPM, and Six Sigma, and building bench strength for operations. MBA preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, MBA preferred.
  • 12–20 years of manufacturing experience, electrical industry preferred.
  • Experience in managing large teams and complex operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complete plant operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
  • Drive operational excellence aligned with business goals.
  • Plan and execute production schedules for transformers, switchgear, cables, panels, etc.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
  • Monitor daily production vs. plan and take corrective actions.
  • Drive lean manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO, customer specs, regulatory norms).
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and CAPA for quality issues.
  • Coordinate with procurement and SCM for material availability; optimize inventory.
  • Monitor plant costs and drive cost reduction and productivity improvements.
  • Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance; minimize downtime.
  • Promote safety and risk assessments; drive zero-accident culture.
  • Develop plant team and build second-line leadership; manage performance.
  • Ensure timely dispatches and customer satisfaction; coordinate with Sales, R&D, and Corporate teams.

Role & responsibilities
Overall Responsibility
  • Lead and manage complete plant operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery
  • Drive operational excellence aligned with business goals
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Production & Operations
  • Plan and execute production schedules (transformers, switchgear, cables, panels, etc.)
  • Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials
  • Monitor daily production vs. plan and take corrective actions
  • Drive lean manufacturing / TPM / Six Sigma initiatives
B. Quality Management
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO, customer specs, regulatory norms)
  • Reduce rejections, rework, and customer complaints
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
C. Supply Chain & Inventory
  • Coordinate with procurement and SCM for material availability
  • Optimize inventory levels (RM, WIP, FG)
  • Avoid line stoppages due to shortages or planning gaps
D. Cost Control & Productivity
  • Monitor plant costs (conversion cost, labor, utilities, scrap)
  • Drive cost reduction and productivity improvement initiativesImprove OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
E. Maintenance & Engineering
  • Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of machines
  • Minimize downtime and breakdowns
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process improvements
F. Safety, Health & Environment (EHS)
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety norms and statutory regulations
  • Promote a zero-accident culture
  • Conduct audits, safety trainings, and risk assessments
G. People Management
  • Lead and develop plant team (production, quality, maintenance, stores)
  • Build second-line leadership
  • Handle performance management, discipline, and engagement
H. Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Ensure timely dispatches and customer satisfaction
  • Handle audits (customer, regulatory, internal)
  • Work closely with Sales, R&D, and Corporate teams
3. Key KPIs

  • First pass yield (FPY)
