Coldadge India is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Manager to lead overall plant operations, production planning, and cost control for temperature-controlled packaging products. The role requires coordinating with QA, R&D, maintenance, and supply chain to ensure safety, quality, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement across all functions.

  • Plan, organize and control production activities as per schedules and customer requirements.
  • Oversee temperature-controlled packaging operations including insulated boxes, thermal liners, PCM packs, and related components.
  • Ensure strict quality control, deviation handling, CAPA, and RFT culture.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Procurement, Stores, Sales, and Dispatch to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance of plant machinery and drive uptime and efficiency.

Job description

The role requires strong experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in temperature-controlled packaging, cold-chain solutions, pharmaceutical packaging, insulation products, PCM-based systems, thermal packaging, or allied industries.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Overall Plant Operations
  • Lead and manage the complete plant operations to achieve production, quality, delivery, cost, and safety targets.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient functioning of all departments.
  • Develop and implement annual plant operating plans and manufacturing strategies.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly plant performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of plant capacity, manpower, machinery, and resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the plant.
2. Production Management
  • Plan, organize, and control production activities as per customer requirements and production schedules.
  • Ensure timely production and dispatch of temperature-controlled packaging products.
  • Improve productivity, line efficiency, OEE, yield, and throughput.
  • Reduce production losses, rejection, rework, downtime, and material wastage.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process controls.
  • Establish and monitor production KPIs for all manufacturing areas.
3. Temperature-Controlled Packaging Operations
  • Ensure consistent manufacturing quality and performance of thermal packaging systems.
  • Manage manufacturing processes related to insulated boxes, thermal liners, PCM packs, gel packs, EPS/EPP/PU insulation, vacuum insulation solutions, and other cold-chain packaging components, as applicable.
  • Ensure correct assembly and configuration of packaging systems according to approved specifications.
  • Work closely with R&D/Engineering and Quality teams for product improvement and process validation.
  • Ensure thermal performance requirements are consistently achieved through controlled manufacturing processes.
4. Quality Management
  • Ensure strict compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with the QA/QC team to reduce rejection, complaints, and process deviations.
  • Establish effective quality control at incoming, in-process, and final inspection stages.
  • Support investigation and closure of customer complaints, CAPA, NCRs, and root-cause analysis.
  • Promote a strong Right First Time (RFT) and zero-defect culture.
  • Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and control of manufacturing records.
5. Planning & Supply Chain
  • Coordinate with Production Planning, Purchase, Stores, Sales, and Dispatch teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Ensure availability of critical raw materials, packaging materials, components, and consumables.
  • Optimize inventory levels and reduce excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure production plans are aligned with customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor supplier performance and coordinate with Procurement for critical materials.
6. Maintenance & Engineering
  • Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of plant machinery, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Minimize machine breakdowns and production downtime.
  • Ensure availability and reliability of critical production equipment.
  • Plan machine upgrades, automation, tooling, and capacity expansion.
  • Maintain proper maintenance records and spare-parts inventory.
7. Cost Control & Productivity
  • Prepare and monitor the plant operating budget.
  • Control manufacturing costs without compromising quality or delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvement, automation, material optimization, and productivity enhancement.
  • Monitor manpower cost, energy consumption, material consumption, scrap, and overhead expenses.
    8. Manpower & Team Management
    • Lead, develop, and motivate production and support teams.
    • Plan manpower requirements according to production volumes and shifts.
    • Ensure proper training, skill development, and competency assessment of employees.
    • Establish clear responsibilities and performance KPIs for departmental heads.
    • Promote discipline, teamwork, accountability, and a positive work culture.
    • Ensure effective shift management and workforce utilization.
    9. EHS & Statutory Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, labour, and statutory requirements.
    • Maintain a safe working environment throughout the plant.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness activities.
    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of materials and production waste.
    • Coordinate with relevant authorities and internal teams for statutory compliance and inspections.
    10. Warehouse & Inventory Control
    • Ensure proper receipt, storage, identification, preservation, and issue of raw materials and finished goods.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock reconciliation.
    • Implement FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable.
    • Ensure proper storage conditions for temperature-sensitive materials and components.
    • Reduce inventory discrepancies, damage, and material losses.
    11. Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Coordinate with Sales, Business Development, Quality, R&D, and Customer Service teams to meet customer requirements.
    • Support technical discussions related to manufacturing feasibility and product customization.
    • Ensure timely resolution of production-related customer issues.
    • Participate in customer audits and technical/operational discussions when required.
    12. New Product Introduction & Process Development
    • Support new product development and commercialization activities.
    • Review manufacturing feasibility, capacity, tooling, manpower, and process requirements for new products.
    • Coordinate with R&D/Engineering for trials, pilot production, validation, and process stabilization.
    • Ensure successful transition from development to commercial production.
    13. Systems, Documentation & Reporting
    • Establish effective production and operational reporting systems.
    • Review daily MIS, production reports, rejection reports, downtime reports, inventory reports, and plant KPIs.
    • Present monthly operational performance to senior management.
    • Ensure proper implementation and compliance with company policies and procedures.
