Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Chennai seeks a seasoned Project Scheduler/Controller to lead planning, scheduling and project controls for complex EPC programs. You will develop baseline schedules, track critical paths, and coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure on-time delivery.

You will oversee cost, cash flow and change management, prepare progress and performance reports, and support risk mitigation and resource optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures. Ensures that an integrated schedule for the project\'s entire scope of work is provided.
  • Analyses project requirements with project team, checks that all essential work activities have been identified in sufficient detail to serve as a basis for developing realistic project schedules.
  • Defines, jointly with the project team, project work aligned to the cost breakdown structure, develops, and maintains properly linked, required role loaded/integrated, baseline and current schedules that provide time phased baseline, actual and forecast data for project.
  • Monitors project progress and regularly analyzes project critical paths to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed to the plan, notifies Project Managers of any deviations or scheduling issues, and provides input for optimizing resources.
  • When required prepares EOT Schedules and Schedule Analysis to support Project Team.
  • Works together with Line Management Organization to resolve Resource Demand / Supply Conflicts. Issues progress reports, schedule updates and productivity data on a regular basis and as requested by customers and stakeholders.
  • Oversees cost, revenue, and cash flow management: supports baseline planning for cost and cash flow performance, defines resources for project completion, and evaluates the work breakdown structure.
  • Manages Change: identifies potential changes in scope and quantifies impact in a timely fashion with engineering, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, client and contractors.
  • Addresses Risk: identifies project risks, assesses priority, proposes mitigation plans, and analyzes impact on timeline and resources.
  • Manages Procurement: integrates material requirements with schedule and coordinates with SCM to optimize lead times and scheduling targets.
  • Participates in project reviews; compiles reports and updates project data in controls and reporting systems; communicates progress and issues to management; offers solutions.
  • Maintains stakeholder relations: communicates timely to Project Manager and stakeholders to ensure understanding.
  • Supports Sales Operations Planning: coordinates with Sales team to define planning scenarios and drive workload data collection; chairs SOP Review Meeting.

  • 3. Cost, revenue, and cash flow management:

    Supports the establishment of a baseline plan for cost and cash flow performance measurement. Works with project team to define the necessary resources for project completion, evaluating the work breakdown structure and standard productivity.

  • 4. Change management:

    Works closely with engineering, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, client and contractors to identify potential changes in scope and quantifies the impact of each change in a timely fashion.

  • 5. Risk management:

    Works with project team to identify and assess the priority of project risks (e.g. schedule, cost and scope risks), and proposes mitigation plans. Analyzes impact of risk on the overall timeline and resources.

  • 6. Procurement:

    Integrates material resource requirements with project schedule and defines procurement activities and order lead times. Regularly communicates with SCM team and updates schedules to ensure procurement activities take place in a timely way and lead times are optimized to meet schedule targets.

  • 7. Project reviews:

    Participates in project reviews. Composes reports and updates all required project data in Project Controls and reporting systems for Management Information and Project Analysis. Communicates project progress and control issues to project management team and offers solutions.

  • 8. Stakeholder relations:

    Effectively communicates appropriate information to the Project Manager and other stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding.

  • 9. Sales Operations Planning:

    Where required: Support Sales Operations Planning Process. Work together with Sales team to define Planning Scenarios, and drive workload data collection process from organization. Chair monthly SOP Review Meeting.
