Job summary

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) in Chennai is seeking a Piping Material Engineer to specify and assure the quality of piping materials across oil and gas projects. You will develop material indices, prepare datasheets, and write technical specs for bulks, valves, and specialties.

The role requires hands-on experience with carbon/stainless/duplex steels and non-metallic piping systems (GRE/GRP/FRP/HDPE), plus strong knowledge of international codes and vendor document reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years related experience, with average experience ranging from 6-10+ years.
• Good communications skills & coordination with various disciplines, across different centres, vendors etc.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of Piping Material index and Piping Material classes for Process & Utilities.
• Preparation of Valve datasheets and Piping Specialty items datasheets.
• Writing Technical / Purchase specifications for Bulks, Valves etc.
• Hands-on experience in metallic piping (Carbon/ Stainless/ Duplex / Super Duplex / Low Alloy) and non-metallic piping systems (GRE/GRP/FRP/HDPE).
• Pipe wall thickness design calculations under internal pressures and vacuum conditions; Branch Reinforcement Pads; Bends; Spectacle Blinds.
• Vendor documents & drawings reviews and approval; Technical Bid Evaluation with Vendors.
• Expertise in any Material Management tools.

The role guarantees that all materials comply with safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of Piping Material index, Piping Material classes for Process & Utilities.
• Preparation of Valve datasheets and Piping Specialty items datasheets
• Writing Technical / Purchase specifications for Bulks, Valves etc.
• Hands on experience in handling metallic piping like Carbon / Stainless Steel /Duplex / Super Duplex Stainless Steels & Low Alloy Steel and non-metallic piping systems such as GRE, GRP, FRP, HDPE etc.

• Expertise in any Material Management tools.
