Job summary

Peoplefy Infosolutions in Pune presents an opportunity for a Piping Materials Engineer to lead material selection and specification across projects. You will act as the technical authority on corrosion control and material compliance, coordinating with process, mechanical, and procurement teams to optimize cost, quality, and schedule.

The role requires experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industries, proficiency with MR/TBE, and familiarity with SPM/SP3D tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or similar industries.

Responsibilities

• Prepare PMS and Piping Class Datasheets.
• Develop valve datasheets and special item datasheets.
• Ensure material compatibility with process requirements and environments.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, and Layout teams to finalize material requirements.
• Prepare MR and perform technical bid evaluations.
• Review vendor offers, drawings, and documents for compliance.
• Support project teams during engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
• Resolve material-related issues during fabrication and site execution.
• Provide inputs for cost estimation and MTO.
• Maintain compliance with international codes such as ASME, ASTM, API, MSS.

Responsibilities

• 1. Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective selection and specification of piping materials, valves, and specialty Internal Stakeholders External Stakeholders items throughout the project lifecycle. 1. Process Engineering 1. Clients / Owners

• 5. Minimize technical, commercial, and operational risks associated with piping materials and equipment.

• 7. Maintain material integrity, traceability, and regulatory compliance from design through commissioning.

Responsibilities

• 1. Prepare Piping Material Specications (PMS) and Piping Class Datasheets.
• 2. Develop and review valve datasheets special item datasheets, and technical specications.
• 3. Ensure material compatibility with process requirements, corrosion conditions, and operating environments.
• 4. Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, and Layout teams to nalize piping material requirements.
• 1. Prepare Material Requisitions (MR) and perform technical bid evaluations (TBE).
• 2. Review vendor offers, drawings, and documents for compliance with specications.
• 3. Participate in vendor discussions and provide technical clarifications.
• 1. Support project teams during engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
• 2. Resolve material-related issues during fabrication and site execution.
• 3. Provide inputs for cost estimation and material take-offs (MTO).
• 1. Ensure compliance with international codes and standards such as ASME (B31, B16 series), ASTM, API, MSS
• 2. Project-specific and client standards
• 3. Review vendor quality documents and certification requirements.
• 1. Maintain and update piping material databases.
• 2. Coordinate with suppliers, inspection teams, and construction teams.
• 3. Support project documentation, including material traceability and technical queries (TQs).

Requirements

• Educational Qualification: BE Mechanical or related discipline
• 1. Experience in oil & gas, renery, petrochemical, or similar industries.
• 1. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• 2. Strong knowledge of Piping materials (CS, SS, alloys, non-metallic), Valves, ttings, gaskets, bolting,
• 2. Effective communication and coordination skills corrosion mitigation, and material selection
• 3. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and fast-paced project environment.
• 3. Familiarity with engineering standards and specications
• 4. Hands-on experience with Material Requisition (MR), Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) & Vendor document review
• 5. Experience with tools such as engineering databases/tools like SmartPlant Materials (SPM), SP3D, or equivalent (preferred)

Primary Skills

• Person will be solely responsible of Selection of material, specification, technical evaluation (of valves/pipes) and procurement support
• Exp in PMS (Piping material specification), VMS (valve material selection), piping speciality item, TBE (Technical bid evaluation)
• He must be aware of process requirement(on design side) then only he would be able to select the material
• He will be also providing extended manufacturing support (When the material goes to the fabrication shop, then they need some support like they follow some checklist, where the designed material received or not, the material met the compliance standards or not, QA/QC support )

• International Exposure is required
• SPM(Smart plant material),SP3D is good to have skills
