Job summary

Baker Tilly Advisory Group, Bangalore team seeks a seasoned fund accounting professional with 8+ years of experience, incl. 5+ years in private equity fund accounting. You will lead journal entries, financial reporting, and investor statements with accuracy and timeliness.

The role requires CPA in progress or equivalent, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with client teams in a fast-paced environment. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA license (or in process) preferred.
  • 8+ years of overall experience, including at least 5 years in private equity fund accounting or fund administration.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with leadership and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, cash reporting, and financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, review packages, analyze variances, and provide findings to the client-facing team.
  • Oversee investor capital statements, general-ledger support schedules, reconciliations, and other fund reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare and/or review capital call and distribution calculations and notices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with fund agreements.
  • Support the client-facing engagement team by researching and providing information to assist in resolving complex inquiries.
  • Prepare and/or review management fees, carried interest, waterfall calculations, and other complex fund calculations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, cash reporting, and financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Manage the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, reviewing reporting packages, analyzing key variances, and providing findings and supporting information to the client‑facing engagement team.
  • Oversee and review investor capital statements, general‑ledger support schedules, account reconciliations, and other fund reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare and/or review capital call and distribution calculations and notices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable fund agreements.
  • Support the client‑facing engagement team by researching and providing information to assist in resolving complex client or investor inquiries.
  • Prepare and/or review management fees, carried interest, waterfall calculations, and other complex fund calculations, as applicable to assigned engagements.
  • Partner with the client‑facing engagement team to support the timely and accurate delivery of fund accounting and reporting services, escalating technical or operational matters as appropriate.
  • Oversee and coordinate the preparation of audit schedules, confirmations, and supporting documentation, working with engagement leadership and external auditors as needed.
  • Support the maintenance of client investor portals, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and updated in a timely manner.
  • Lead assigned client engagements and special projects, including appropriate client communication based on engagement needs.
  • Support larger or more complex engagements through deliverable preparation, internal coordination, and collaboration with the client‑facing engagement team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, standardize workflows, enhance quality, and support the timely delivery of client work.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Seniors, Associates, and Junior Associates by providing technical guidance, performance coaching, and career development support.
  • Review work performed by the team, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and client-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support resource planning, operational initiatives, and continuous process improvements across engagements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA license (or in process) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of overall experience, including at least 5 years of relevant experience in private equity fund accounting or fund administration.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as Investran or similar; solid Excel skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engagement leadership, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Client interaction may be required based on engagement needs.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to support occasional travel (up to 5%) and additional projects as required.
