Job summary

Wonder Cement is seeking a Support Head Mechanical to oversee daily maintenance activities, analyze equipment health, downtime, and drive corrective actions. The role focuses on ensuring plan adherence, preventive and predictive maintenance, and efficient spare parts management.

You will assist in budgeting, vendor development, and implementation of process improvements to enhance plant performance. Strong leadership of technicians and cross-team collaboration is essential.

Responsibilities

• Review daily log sheets and key maintenance parameters to identify deviations and take corrective actions.
• Ensure equipment availability per plan via preventive and predictive maintenance checklists.
• Assist in annual budget preparation including manpower, vendor development, and system improvements.
• Monitor cost optimization through inventory planning, material issuance, and spares management.
• Review vendor performance and address abnormalities with vendors.
• Resolve plant issues and implement process improvements to boost performance.
• Provide inputs for technical negotiations with vendors for procurement.
• Perform downtime analysis to identify root causes of persistent issues.
• Oversee packing plant machinery maintenance and preventive/breakdown activities.
• Coordinate with production to meet dispatch targets and uphold safety policies.
• Lead maintenance staff and supervise technicians.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements.

Job description

Support Head Mechanical in review and analysis of daily log sheet and other key maintenance parameters such as equipment healthiness, downtime, with reasons of deviation and accordingly take necessary corrective action

Ensure availability of equipment as per plan by ensuring preventive and predictive maintenance checklist, history card, breakdown analysis, spare planning etc

Support in for annual budget preparation including manpower, vendor development, modifications, system improvement, liaising with other departments/senior and reports preparation; ensure adherence to planned budget

Monitor cost optimisation by monitoring PR/MRD at approval stage; This includes inventory planning, issue of material, and complete inventory management

Support Head-Mechanical in reviewing technical vendors from time to time to ensure performance by inspecting the efficiency, accuracy and condition monitoring of the equipment and intimate vendors on any abnormalities and deviations

Support resolution of ongoing issues in the plant (example functioning of conveyor belt), improve working methods, processes solutions followed in the plant to improve the plant performance (example new initiatives and innovations such as equipment modification to get live trends, cell status etc)

Provide inputs for technical negotiations with vendors for procurement

Perform downtime analysis to identify & pinpoint the root cause of any persisting issues

• Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of packing plant machinery (packers, conveyors, compressors, etc.)
• Plan and execute preventive & breakdown maintenance activities
• Monitor equipment performance and minimize downtime
• Coordinate with production team to achieve dispatch targets
• Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with plant policies
• Manage spare parts inventory and control maintenance costs
