Job summary

Cyient Limited is seeking a hands-on Packaging Engineer with strong CAD skills and a background in electrical consumer electronics packaging. You will develop packaging concepts, analyze drawings, and drive DFx improvements while collaborating across teams to optimize costs and performance.

You will leverage Creo/SolidWorks to create models and drawings, apply GD&T, and coordinate with suppliers on DFMs and DFAs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Design.
• 3-5 years of experience in packaging development and/or product function development, preferably in consumer electronics.

Responsibilities

• Understand packaging requirements and specifications.
• Analyse engineering drawings and specifications to determine materials and packaging needs.
• Conduct DFM, DFA reviews with suppliers for packaging solutions.
• Create 3D models and drawings, including GD&T tolerance analysis.
• Identify suitable packaging materials and release BOM.
• Perform hand calculations for design feasibility.

• Must be very good and hands on with 2D & 3D (prefer - Creo, Solid works.)
• Hands on Windchill/ Agile/ PLM software ‘s
• Responsible for understanding the packaging requirements & specifications
• Analyse engineering drawings &specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety equipment’s, and types of materials required for packaging
• Conduct DFM, DFA reviews with suppliers for Packaging solutions
• Develops Products packaging requirements & specifications
• Creates 3D models, assembly and detailing including drawing conversions
• Apply GD&T and perform Tolerance stack-up analysis for components/Sub-system.
• DFM &DFA activities & optimization of design for cost reduction
• Carryout DFMEA and identify relevant product risks due packaging failure modes
• Participate in DFx discussions and identify opportunities in cost reduction for packaging
• Identifying the suitable Packaging materials for designs and creating and releasing BOM
• Performing hand calculations for the design feasibility
• Knowledge of IEC 6061, ISTA, ASTM, ANSI, GD&T standards are preferred

Job Qualification

Educational Background: A Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Design.

Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in packaging development and/or product function development, preferably within the consumer electronics industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (preferably prefer - Creo, Solid works experience) and experience with prototyping tools and methods. A strong understanding of materials science and sustainability practices in packaging is essential.

Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, a creative mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills are required to effectively present ideas and influence stakeholders.
