Job summary

Chemicals And Ferro Alloys is seeking a senior Operations leader to oversee all manufacturing activities for a high-volume plant. You will drive production planning, safety, maintenance, and cost controls while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

Strong expertise in industrial relations and stakeholder management with local authorities is essential. The ideal candidate has 20–25 years in manufacturing, with at least 10 years in a Head Operations role overseeing a multi-hundred crore

Qualifications

• Engineering graduate with post-graduate qualification in Operations and 20–25 years in manufacturing.
• Experience leading operations for large-scale plants (head Operations).
• Strong background in industrial relations, labour matters, and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute manufacturing strategies to maximize productivity and profitability.
• Establish KPIs to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, QA and other departments for seamless execution of plans.
• Lead lean initiatives (Six Sigma) and process optimization to reduce waste and improve quality.
• Oversee PFMEA/PPAP/FAIR processes and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Manage production planning and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Handle customer audits and guide queries through manufacturing processes.
• Develop manufacturing budgets and optimize resource utilization.
• Maintain communication with stakeholders on performance and opportunities.
• Lead monthly safety meetings and resolve safety items.

Job description

Please note apart from Plant Operations role the candidate should have strong experience in union settlements, wage negotiations, and industrial relations. The candidate should also be experienced in dealing with local authorities, political representatives, labour officers, and other government officials.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with company objectives to maximize productivity and profitability.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate manufacturing performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and execution of manufacturing plans.
• Drive operational excellence initiatives, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization, to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality. Drive production planning and achieve operational efficiencies with tools such as JIT, KANBAN, Pull System etc.
• Must have in-depth exposure to PFMEA / PPAP / FAIR etc.
• Responsible for production planning and ensuring preventive maintenance is carried out at regular intervals.
• Manage customer audits and ensure necessary corrective actions are taken. Manager customer queries and guide them through the manufacturing process and operations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, promoting a safe work environment and implementing appropriate training programs and safety measures.
• Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, controlling costs and expenses while optimizing resource utilization.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, implementing innovative solutions to enhance competitiveness and drive growth.
• Maintain effective communication channels with internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on manufacturing performance, challenges, and opportunities.
• Assists in new product launches, production and engineering improvements, product quality.
• Works closely with peers to focus on continuous improvements that will benefit Operations.
• Lead and facilitate monthly safety meetings and lead/assist in the resolution of safety items.

Preferred candidate profile

The ideal candidate is an engineering graduate with a post-graduate qualification in Operations having 20 -25 years experience including atleast 10 years at a Head Operations position with responsibility for managing operations about 200cr business. The ideal candidate should be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, maintenance and safety standards are met.
