Job summary

Health Care Global Enterprises seeks a theatre technician to ensure availability of instruments, consumables and implants; maintain sterile technique; assist surgeons; and ensure theatre cleanliness before patient entry. • Ensure availability of instruments, consumables and implants
• Maintain sterile technique for scrubbing, gowning, gloving and draping
• Assist surgeons and theatre staff according to needs
• Prepare instrument trolley as per procedure requirements
• Adhere to WHO safe surgery checklist; perform time-out and counts
• Rinse and check instruments; hand over to CSSD with proper documentation
• Record theatre details, billing, consumables and drugs as required
• Prepare patients for recovery room transfer after evaluation
• Follow bio-medical waste management protocol
• Complete timely documentation with circulating nurse
• Inform counts to surgical team
• Assist for dressing of the wound
• Check specimen as per policy
• Inform sponge/instrument/needle counts to team
• Rinse instruments and verify with checklist before transfer to CSSD

Job description

• Ensure the availability of equipments instrument consumables and implants
• Ensure that the theatre has been cleaned before the patient in OR
• Ensure sterile technique for scrubbing, gowning, gloving and draping
• Receiving sterile equipment’s via circulating nurse using sterile technique
• Ensures and performs surgical handwash before the start of every surgery/procedure according to the protocol
• Prepare the instrument trolley as per surgical procedure requirement
• Secure the suction tube, cautery cables and ensure cautery plate application
• Adhere to the WHO safe surgery checklist. Ensure Time out and performs initial sponges, instruments and needle counts in the presence of all the surgical team before the skin incision
• Assist according to the surgeons needs for the procedure
• Maintain sterility throughout the procedure
• Have awareness on patients safety
• Concentrate and observe throughout the procedure
• Save and care for tissue specimen
• Under take count of sponges and instruments with the circulating nurse before wound closure and sign out
• Inform the sponge, instruments and needle count to the surgical team
• Assist for dressing of the wound
• Prepare the patients for recovery room transfer after physical examination
• Follow the bio-medical waste management protocol
• Complete timely documentation along with circulating nurse
• Check specimen as per policy
• Rinse the instruments and check the instruments with the check list then hand over instruments to CSSD with proper documentation
• Ensure the surgery record, billing, consumables and drugs are all recorded and entered wherever required
