Operation theatre (OT) technician is an important person that assists various medical professionals such as a surgeon or anesthesiologist during operations. OT technician is expected to have detailed knowledge about the working of various systems used during operations procedures such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, surgical equipment, etc.

In general, OT technician should have some essential qualities such as working under pressure with calmness, sufficient training of all the OT operations, working with minimal supervision and should have good fitness and high concentration power.

Roles and Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains an operating theatre and its equipment.
Assists the surgical team during operations.
Provides support to patients in the recovery room.
Ensures all necessary supplies and surgical tools are sterile and ready.
Participates in a few surgical procedures each day.
Collaborates with Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare providers to deliver services as directed.
Handles, packages, labels, stores, transports and disposes of waste appropriately to minimize contact risk and environmental harm.
