Job summary

CIEL HR is seeking an On Site Quality Engineer – Fabrication in Mumbai with 4+ years of experience. You will perform incoming, stage, and final inspections, coordinate with suppliers, and ensure material traceability and conformance.

Role requires exposure to TIG/MIG/SMAW welding, NDT, APQP, and lean tools; you will lead root cause analysis, support new product development, and ensure on-time delivery to customers.

Qualifications

• Experienced in quality inspection and process improvement with scientific approach.
• Skilled in supplier assessment and evaluation.
• Proficient in problem-solving to improve delivery process.
• Able to implement APQP during development.
• Aware of lean tools and aims for on-time delivery and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials and ensure traceability.
• Oversee stage inspections, welding setup, and fit-up checks.
• Witness NDT tests such as PMI, MPT, DP, X-ray, UT, hydro.
• Review documentation like MTC, dimension reports, hydrotest, per customer need.
• Coordinate supplier audits and clearance for dispatch.
• Identify cost reductions and supplier performance improvements.
• Lead root-cause analysis and solve critical quality issues onsite.
• Participate in new product development and APQP processes.

Job Description

• Incoming Inspection: Raw material, bought items & machining parts inspect & check material tracebality with respect to TC.
• Stage Inspection: Check fitment /Weldsetup / tacking before final welding.
• NDT Test : Witness and review NDT test like PMI, MPT, DP, X-Ray, UT, Hydro test etc.
• Surface Treatment: Inspect Blasting, Primer coat, final paint coat DFT, powder coating, paint adhesion test, Pickling & Passivation
• Reduce supplier defects: Identifying process gaps & creating new one where needed to improvements at Internal & External Stakeholders.
• Documentation: Review MTC, Dimension report, Hydrotest report and other documentation as per customer need.
• Final clearance for Shipment.
• Visiting Supplier for inprocess audit , expedition , inspection of the parts/ assembly and provding clearance of dispatch, identifying risk of supply if any.
• Use data, onsite evaluation and industrial knowledge to identify opportunities for supplier performance improvements.
• Actively involve in new product development process.
• Response to urgent & critical quality issues and resolve. Onsite at supplier facility for extended periods.
• Identify VA/VE and other cost reduction opportunities through supplier visits.
• Root Cause Analysis: Competence in root cause analysis methodologies, such as Six Sigma or 5M, is beneficial

Should be Skilled in Supplier Assessment and add value in Supplier selection and evaluation process.

Should be able to effectively identify the sources of problems and their causes in the delivery process. This enables the introduction of appropriate improvements, resulting in a more effective and reliable supply chain.

4. APQP

Should be able to Implement APQP during development.

5. To achive Delivery, Quality & supplier performance Targets/ KPI's

Manufacturing, Inspection & Testing Know how

• Should be aware of different mfg process like Fabrication - TIG, MIG, SMAW Welding, Forging, Sand Casting, Investment Casting, GDC, PDC, Injection Moulding, Machining etc.

• Should have sound knowledge on GD & T, Should have hands on experience of all Meteorology Equipments & Instruments and additional CMM experience.

• Should have NDT certifications Level II.

• To achieve First time right parts.

Project Management

Should be skilled to manage the project within the estimated budget & timelines.

Lean Fundamentals

Should be aware of basic lean tools.
