Job Description
The Nursing Incharge is responsible for supervising nursing operations within the assigned department/unit, ensuring high-quality patient care, managing nursing staff, and maintaining compliance with clinical, safety, and hospital standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day nursing activities.
- Allocate nursing staff according to patient workload and clinical requirements.
- Monitor quality and continuity of patient care.
- Conduct regular nursing rounds and review patient conditions.
- Coordinate with consultants, doctors, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Ensure proper administration of medications and prescribed treatments.
- Monitor nursing documentation, patient records, and shift handovers.
- Ensure adherence to infection-control and patient-safety protocols.
- Respond to clinical emergencies and coordinate immediate interventions.
- Address patient and attendant concerns related to nursing services.
- Monitor staff attendance, discipline, performance, and competency.
- Assist with recruitment, orientation, training, and performance evaluation.
- Monitor availability of medicines, equipment, and nursing supplies.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and prepare duty rosters.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality-improvement programs.
- Support NABH and other accreditation requirements.
- Prepare nursing reports and communicate significant issues to nursing management.
- Promote professional and ethical nursing practices.
- Coordinate patient transfers, admissions, and discharge-related nursing activities.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Nursing Superintendent or Nursing Manager.
