Job summary

TATA Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced L2 Network Support Engineer to manage Juniper-based infrastructure, ensure high availability, and resolve complex incidents. You will configure routing, VLANs, and ACLs, monitor performance, and coordinate with escalation teams.

Ideal candidates have 5–9 years of hands-on Juniper experience, proficiency with SolarWinds/Nagios/PRTG, and strong troubleshooting and documentation skills for enterprise environments in India.

Qualifications

• Experience with L2 network support and incident resolution
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, DNS, DHCP
• Hands-on work with Juniper devices (MX/EX/QFX/SRX)
• Experience in configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of routers/switches/firewalls
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools (SolarWinds/Nagios/PRTG)
• Ability to perform RCA and implement corrective actions

Responsibilities

1. Role Overview

• Provide L2 network support for Juniper-based infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Firewall)
• Handle advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and incident resolution
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of network environment

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Network Operations & Support

• Manage and support Juniper devices (MX, EX, QFX, SRX series)
• Perform configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of routers/switches/firewalls
• Handle L2 incidents, service requests, and problem tickets
• Work with L1 for escalation and coordinate with L3 for complex issues [linkedin.com]
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of network issues (routing, switching, firewall, VPN)
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
• Ensure incident resolution within SLA timelines

C. Configuration & Change Management

• Implement network configuration changes (VLAN, routing, subnetting, ACLs)
• Execute standard changes as per CAB / SOP
• Participate in firmware upgrades, patching, and DR drills

D. Monitoring & Performance Optimization

• Monitor network using tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG
• Analyze performance metrics and optimize network throughput
• Maintain uptime and network health

E. Security & Compliance

• Configure and manage firewall policies (Juniper SRX)
• Ensure security through VPN, ACLs, and filtering rules
• Monitor and respond to network security events

F. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain:
• Network diagrams
• Configuration backups
• SOPs / Knowledge base
• Provide incident reports, RCA, and audit compliance documentation

3. Technical Skills Required

Core Networking

• Strong knowledge of:
• TCP/IP, OSI model, DNS, DHCP
• Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, Static)
• Switching (VLAN, STP, trunking)
• Hands-on experience with:
• MX (Routing)
• EX/QFX (Switching)
• SRX (Firewall)
• Knowledge of Junos CLI and troubleshooting commands

Network Security

• Firewall configuration (SRX/Palo Alto optional)
• VPN (IPSec/SSL)
• Basic IDS/IPS concepts

Tools & Monitoring

• Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds/Nagios/PRTG)
• Packet analysis (Wireshark optional)

4. Certifications (Preferred / Mandatory)

• JNCIA / JNCIS (Juniper Certifications)
• ITIL Foundation (good to have)
• Comparable Cisco certification (CCNA) – added advantage

5. Experience

• 5–8 years experience in network operations
• Minimum 5–8 years hands-on with Juniper environment
• Experience in data center / enterprise / BFSI environment preferred

6. Soft Skills
