Job Description

The Nephrology Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with kidney-related disorders, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, electrolyte imbalances, and hypertension-related renal complications. The involves evaluating patients, reviewing diagnostic investigations, developing treatment plans, and coordinating dialysis and other renal care services. The specialist works with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide safe, evidence-based care and support patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions.

• Evaluate patients with acute and chronic kidney disorders.
• Obtain medical histories and perform relevant clinical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage kidney diseases and related complications.
• Review renal function tests, urine reports, electrolyte levels, and imaging studies.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings.
• Manage patients with acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease.
• Assess patients for dialysis and coordinate renal replacement therapy when indicated.
• Monitor patients undergoing haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
• Manage fluid balance, electrolyte disturbances, and acid-base disorders.
• Evaluate hypertension and its association with renal disease.
• Coordinate with urologists, intensivists, and other specialists when required.
• Counsel patients on medication adherence, dietary recommendations, and renal health.
• Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust care plans as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and treatment documentation.
• Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical quality protocols.
• Educate patients and caregivers about kidney disease management and follow-up.
