Purpose/Objective
To plan, manage, and execute mining operations (metal/limestone) in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and achieving production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Mining Operations Management: Plan and oversee day-to-day mining activities including drilling, blasting, excavation, and transportation.
- Ensure achievement of production targets (ROM, limestone/metal ore output).
- Optimize mine planning (short-term & long-term) for maximum recovery.
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with DGMS, Mines Act 1952, MMR 1961, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain all statutory records, reports, and returns.
- Handle inspections from DGMS and other authorities.
- Safety & Environment: Implement and monitor safety practices and systems.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure adherence to environmental norms and clearances.
- Team Management: Supervise engineers, supervisors, and workmen.
- Ensure manpower planning, training, and performance management.
- Drive disciplinary standards and safe work culture.
- Contractor Management: Manage mining contractors for drilling, blasting, and transportation.
- Monitor contractor performance, billing, and compliance.
- Cost & Productivity Optimization: Control operational costs (fuel, explosives, manpower).
- Improve equipment utilization and productivity.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Equipment & Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability.
- Monitor performance of HEMM (Excavators, Dumpers, Drills, etc.).
- Reporting & MIS: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Track KPIs related to output, safety and cost.
- Update stakeholders on operational status.
Technical Competencies
Mine Planning & Design, Drilling & Blasting Techniques, Geological understanding of limestone, Statutory compliance, Process Optimization-Cements, Production & cost control, Safety management systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education Qualification: B. Tech in mining.
- Work Experience: 10-12 years in operations, mining.
- First class mines manager certificate required.
