Job summary

Exult Global is seeking an experienced Power BI Architect to design and drive enterprise-wide BI architecture with a focus on Power BI, data modeling, reporting modernization, and governance.

You will provide technical leadership, define scalable, high-performance BI solutions, and lead modernization of legacy reporting platforms to Power BI, ensuring data lineage and governance across the organization.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

As a Power BI Architect, you will be responsible for designing and driving enterprise-wide BI and analytics architecture, with a strong focus on Power BI, data modeling, reporting modernization, and BI governance. You will provide technical leadership for Power BI initiatives, define scalable and high-performance BI solutions, and lead the modernization of legacy reporting platforms such as Crystal Reports, BusinessObjects, and SSRS. The role requires deep expertise in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and Power BI Service, along with the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and governed analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise Power BI architecture, standards, frameworks, and best practices.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performance Power BI solutions, semantic models, datasets, reports, and dashboards.
• Lead the modernization and migration of legacy reporting platforms, including Crystal Reports, BusinessObjects, and SSRS, to Power BI.
• Assess existing reporting solutions and define migration strategies, architecture patterns, and implementation roadmaps.
• Design and optimize enterprise data models using dimensional modeling, Power Query (M), DAX, and semantic modeling best practices.
• Establish standards for data modeling, report development, performance optimization, naming conventions, reusability, and maintainability.
• Design and implement Power BI Service architecture, including workspaces, deployment pipelines, access controls, gateways, refresh strategies, and lifecycle management.
• Define and enforce Power BI governance, security, data lineage, and deployment standards across the organization.
• Design appropriate Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and workspace/access management strategies.
• Ensure accurate data lineage and reconciliation between legacy reports and Power BI datasets/reports during migration.
• Lead performance tuning of Power BI models, DAX queries, reports, and data refresh processes.
• Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, architects, business stakeholders, and leadership to define technical solutions and BI roadmaps.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Power BI developers and BI analysts.
• Review solution designs, code, data models, and reports to ensure adherence to architectural and governance standards.
• Evaluate emerging Power BI and Microsoft data platform capabilities and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
• Troubleshoot complex architectural, performance, data, and deployment issues and provide sustainable solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or BI development, with strong expertise in Power BI.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong expertise in advanced DAX, Power Query (M), semantic modeling, datasets, and enterprise dashboards.
• Proven experience designing enterprise Power BI architecture and scalable BI solutions.
• Strong experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, dimensional modeling, and data architecture.
• Advanced SQL skills for data analysis, transformation, validation, and optimization.
• Strong experience with Power BI Service administration, workspaces, deployment pipelines, gateways, refresh strategies, and security.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and enterprise BI governance.
• Proven experience in migrating or modernizing Crystal Reports and other legacy reporting platforms such as BusinessObjects and SSRS.
• Strong understanding of data lineage, data quality, report validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with Power BI performance optimization, including DAX, data models, query performance, and refresh optimization.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentoring to BI teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Power BI Paginated Reports / RDL.
• Strong familiarity with SSRS, SSAS, BusinessObjects, and other enterprise BI platforms.
• Experience with Azure data services, including Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Fabric semantic models.
• Experience implementing CI/CD, DevOps, and automated deployment processes for Power BI solutions.
• Familiarity with Power BI REST APIs, XMLA endpoints, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and other BI development/administration tools.
• Power BI or Microsoft certifications such as PL-300, DP-600, or relevant Azure certifications.
• Prior experience owning enterprise BI architecture, large-scale migration programs, or BI transformation initiatives.
• Experience leading distributed BI teams or cross-functional technical initiatives.
