Job summary

Shahi Group in India is seeking a Junior Merchandiser to drive woven garment product development from concept to final sample. You will align with customer requirements, tech packs, sketches and construction details, and manage calendars to meet critical timelines.

You will coordinate Design, Pattern Making, Sampling, Fabric, Trims, Quality and Production teams, develop Proto, PP, Photo Shoot, Size Set and Pilot samples, and track samples to client approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology, Fashion Technology, Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Design or related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in woven garment product development; freshers with internship could be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the product development process from concept to final sample approval.
  • Understand customer requirements, tech packs, specifications, sketches and construction details.
  • Develop and follow the product development calendar to meet timelines.
  • Coordinate with Design, Pattern Making, Sampling, Fabric, Trims, Quality and Production teams.
  • Develop Proto, PP, Photo Shoot, Size Set, Fit and Pilot samples as per customer needs.
  • Follow up on fabrics, trims, accessories, and other components for sample development.
  • Ensure fabrics and trims meet customer standards and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for fabric and trim development, testing and approvals.
  • Incorporate customer feedback and sample comments on time.
  • Maintain sample status and provide updates to the reporting manager.
  • Assist in costing, consumption, and maintaining cost sheets aligned with targets.
  • Ensure development is within cost, quality and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with the technical team for garment construction, measurements and workmanship.
  • Maintain documentation of sample submissions, approvals and development records.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards and procedures.
  • Identify development issues early and coordinate timely resolution.
  • Support merchandising during pre-production and bulk handover.
  • Track seasonal developments and complete all tasks on the critical path.

  • Ensure fabrics and trims are developed as per customer standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for fabric and trim development, testing, and approvals.
  • Follow up on sample comments from customers/buyers and ensure timely incorporation of corrections.
  • Maintain sample status and provide regular updates to the reporting manager and concerned teams.
  • Assist in costing, consumption, and maintaining cost sheets in line with customer targets.
  • Ensure product development is carried out within agreed cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with the technical team for garment construction, measurements, fit, and workmanship requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of sample submissions, approvals, comments, and development records.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Identify development issues at an early stage and coordinate with relevant teams for timely resolution.
  • Support the merchandising team during pre-production and bulk production handover.
  • Keep track of seasonal developments and ensure all developments are completed within the critical path.
Qualifications & Experience

For Junior Merchandiser / Junior Executive:

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology, Fashion Technology, Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Design, or a relevant field.
  • 1- 4 years of experience in woven garment product development.
  • Freshers with relevant internship/project experience may also be considered.
