Job summary

Mavenir is hiring a Packet Core Support Engineer in India to manage and optimize 4G/5G core networks. You will handle L2/L3 support for SGW/PGW/MME/AMF/SMF/UPF, monitor performance, and drive incident resolution and upgrades.

Ideal candidates have 6–12 years in telecom with strong troubleshooting, Unix/Linux skills, and familiarity with NFV/Kubernetes. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 6–12 years of telecom experience with strong exposure to 4G/5G Packet Core.
• Solid knowledge of LTE/5G architecture and protocols (GTP, S1AP, Diameter, PFCP, NGAP, HTTP/2).
• Hands-on troubleshooting, incident management in live networks, and basic scripting.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 support for Packet Core nodes (SGW, PGW, MME, PCRF, PCF, AMF, SMF, UPF).
• Monitor network performance, handle incidents, outages and escalations.
• Perform root cause analysis and issue resolution; manage software upgrades.
• Ensure SLA compliance and service availability.
• Collaborate with RAN/OCS/IMS/Platform teams; maintain operational docs.
• Assist in network optimization and capacity planning.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Packet Core Support Engineer with 6-12 years of telecom experience to manage, troubleshoot, and optimize packet core network elements. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, and operational excellence of 4G/5G core networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 support for Packet Core nodes such as SGW, PGW, MME, PCRF, PCF, AMF, SMF, UPF
• Monitor network performance and handle incidents, outages, and escalations
• Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and issue resolution
• Manage software upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
• Ensure SLA compliance and service availability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RAN, OCS, IMS, Platform, ST/R&D)
• Maintain documentation and prepare operational reports
• Support network optimization and capacity planning activities

Job Requirements

• 6-12 years of experience in telecom, with strong exposure to 4G/5G Packet Core
• Strong knowledge of LTE/5G architecture, protocols (GTP, S1AP, Diameter, PFCP, NGAP, HTTP/2)
• Experience in troubleshooting and incident management in live networks
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems and basic scripting
• Understanding of virtualization/cloud (NFV, Kubernetes) is a plus
• Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
