Job summary

Brakes India in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, seeks a production shift supervisor to ensure on-time targets and quality for metal production. You will oversee shift activities, collect materials, monitor charge-mix, and drive continual improvement while upholding safety standards.

You will prepare QMS/IMS/EnMS documents and train operators, attend rejection meetings, and support cost containment efforts on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience managing shift-based production operations.
• Knowledge of QMS/IMS/EnMS documentation and procedures.
• Ability to lead a team and drive continual improvement.
• Familiarity with 5S and shop floor safety.

Responsibilities

• Meet shift-wise production targets.
• Initiate corrective actions for delays.
• Collect raw materials shift-wise and monitor charge-mix to maintain correct chemical composition.
• Monitor furnace dimensions and initiate corrective actions.
• Maintain 1S and 2S on the shop floor.
• Ensure safety in the working environment.
• Attend daily/weekly rejection meetings and act on findings.
• Prepare work instructions and QMS/IMS/EnMS documents.
• Impart on-the-job training to operators/contract labors.
• Continual improvement with or without the team.
• Contribute to department objectives.
• Monitor direct and indirect raw material consumption.

Job description

Ensuring good quality of metal supplied for the production

• Manages the activities to meet the shift-wise production target.
• Initiate corrective actions for any delays in the shift.
• Collecting necessary raw materials shift wise and adherence to charge-mix to achieve

correct chemical composition.

• Contribution to achieve department objectives
• Monitoring and analysis of all direct and indirect raw material consumption on shift basis and

initiate action to reduce cost.

• Monitoring the furnace dimensions and taking subsequent actions
• Making continual improvement with or without team
• Maintaining 1S and 2S activities as per the checklist to keep the shop floor clean.
• Ensuring safety in working environment
• Attending the daily/Weekly Rejection Meeting and taking actions relevant to melting

department.

• Taking corrective actions for any non-conformities regarding quality and safety.
• Preparation of appropriate work instruction, documents for QMS/IMS/EnMS
• Impart on the job training to all operators/contract labors.
