Job summary

PeopleStrong seeks a skilled Mechanical/Process Design Engineer to lead technical deliverables for Coke Oven and related facilities. You will develop PFDs, P&IDs, design bases, and equipment specs, coordinating with vendors and multidisciplinary teams across EPC projects.

Ideal candidates have 3–10 years in process and mechanical design for metallurgical or beneficiation plants, with knowledge of Aspen Plus, HYSYS, METSIM or similar tools. On-site engineering and project support expected.

Qualifications

• Full-time MTech/BE/BTech/Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university/institute.
• 3–10 years of experience in process and mechanical design engineering of Coke Oven and related facilities.
• Knowledge of international standards, environmental regulations, and best practices for metallurgical plants.

Responsibilities

• Carry out process and mechanical design engineering for Coke Oven and By-Product Plants, Sinter and Ore Processing facilities.
• Develop and review design deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, process design basis reports, mass and energy balances.
• Prepare equipment datasheets, specifications, and inquiry packages for procurement.
• Review vendor drawings, guarantees, data, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in HAZOP studies, design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering.
• Support commissioning, performance tests, troubleshooting and start-up activities.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

• Should have experience in process and mechanical engineering of Coke Oven Plants/Non-Ferrous Metal Processing Facilities/ Mineral Beneficiation Plants,
• Expertise in process design, equipment sizing and selection, development of engineering deliverables, vendor engineering, and multidisciplinary coordination across all phases of EPC projects.
• Should perform process and mechanical design engineering for Coke Oven and By-Product Plants, Sinter Plants and Iron & Steel Process Facilities, Mineral Beneficiation and Ore Processing Plant.
• Develop and review key process engineering deliverables, including Process Design Basis Reports, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Mass and Energy Balances, Equipment Datasheets and Specifications
• Prepare technical specifications, material requisitions, equipment datasheets, and inquiry packages for procurement activities.
• Review vendor drawings, process guarantees, equipment calculations, performance data, and engineering submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Participatein HAZOP studies, design reviews, risk assessments, value engineering exercises, and optimization initiatives.
• Supportcommissioning, performance guarantee tests, troubleshooting, and plant start-up activities.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:Full-timeMTech/BE/BTech/Diploma/ITIin Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university/institute.

Minimum years of experience & Industry Preference:

• 3-10 years of experience in process and mechanical design engineering of Coke Oven & By-Product Plants, Non-Ferrous Smelters and Refineries & Mineral Beneficiation and Ore Processing Plants
• Knowledge of international standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices applicable to metallurgical and beneficiation plants.
• Experience with process simulation and engineering software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, METSIM, JKSimMet, AFT Fathom, Pipe-Flo, or equivalent tools.
• Experience in engineering consultancy, design centres, or EPC organizations will be preferred.
